quote:

The 35-year-old Johnson is the least experienced coach among the group the Saints have requested to interview, with just four years of NFL coaching experience and no experience calling plays, but he is considered a rising star in the coaching ranks.

quote:

Under his direction, Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud put together one of the greatest seasons ever by a rookie quarterback, throwing for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns against five interceptions in 15 games. Stroud led the NFL in passing yards per game (273.9).

Before joining the Texans as their quarterbacks coach last spring, Johnson spent one year in the same role for the Minnesota Vikings. That year, Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins made the Pro Bowl after throwing for 4,547 yards and 29 touchdowns.

quote:

Like Saints coach Dennis Allen, Johnson is a Texas A&M graduate. He was an All-Big 12 performer with the Aggies, throwing for 8,011 yards and 67 touchdowns in his collegiate career.

He has very little to do with CJ Stroud’s development, but of course the Saints would give him an interview.

You can’t make this shite up.

Dennis Allen’s arse is on the line, doubt he can make a hire this risky

Then again Dennis probably doesn’t have much say in the hire

Our next OC is either gonna be Gruden or some position coach. No current OC is coming coach with a lame duck HC

Good news is that he seems keyed in on a Shannahan guy, from the Kyle or McVay tree

Imagine thinking that just because Stroud will win Rookie of the year, that hiring his QB coach will fix Derrick Carr. That's the kind of thinking that this organization is working with.

Well absolutely no one has said that. If they truly did he probably would’ve been the first interview and he wasn’t at all. He’s a well though of up and coming coach.

Carr is 33. Johnson 35, Zac Robinson and Dan Pitcher are 37. Carr seems too sensitive to take coaching from guys around his age. Waldren is 44

DA already has a few A&M guys on his coaching staff

Stupid as it is, he satisfies the Rooney Rule. Get his interview, then announce our hire.

Great the Saints will try to mess up the Texans too.
Allen is still in charge. Will always be the problem.

Taking a chance on an up and coming guy that could be a star is the kind of thing this franchise has to do at this point.

Could be. He's interviewing a lot of QB Coaches on good offenses from a very specific tree, and a lot of other teams are interviewing the same guys.

to be fair, Carr was too sensitive this year with older coaches.

Imagine thinking that this team can afford to overlook any potential candidates.

Here's another thought, what if they are targeting one of the mobile QBs in the draft. Would make sense to talk to guys who have been around successful mobile QBs.

That has nothing to do with it. The Rooney Rule is only for HC and senior football operations jobs. But who do you want to hire?

Of those we’ve interviewed I guess I lean Zac Robinson. Waldron is going to the Bears, and I prefer Robinson to Pitcher

Why do you spout off at the mouth if you don’t know what you’re talking about?

It applies to OC and QB coach
