Seriously if it happens like:
1: Best Pass Rusher
2: Mahomes
3: Best DB
4/5: At least one quality defender
Whats the problem?

Round 1 -11 Derek Barnett DE
Round 1 – 32 Patrick Mahomes QB
Round 3 – 76 Chidobe Awuzie CB

We did this shite with Bryce Petty a few years ago and also with Grayson. Sure the Saints are going to make private workouts but what NFL team isn't doing this?
So, you contradict yourself. Didn't we draft Grayson? So, what made that a non-story then?

Agree he has been a waste thus far. However, your comment makes no sense since it was newsworthy that they attended his workout.

Where would you feel comfortable with Mahomes? At 11 I would be upset. 31, okay, this is the guy they are betting on as a successor- commitment, but it better payoff. 42 I'd be perfectly happy with on a valuation basis.

I don't see him as first round material, though I wouldn't HATE it with our 2nd first round pick. I think he would be really nice 2nd round value, amazing 3rd round value.

Anyone who dismisses a player cause of the spread offense doesn't know shite.

quote:

Brees loves Tiller's offense, which often has five or six potential receivers with nobody lined up in the backfield.

"When you're throwing 50 times a game, you can't really ask for more than that since everywhere else in the nation, you're probably throwing 20 times, or 30 times," Brees said.

Joe Tiller ran the spread at Purdue. Anyhow, Mahomes is a gunslinger type as well. He's got a pro arm and got more accurate each year. He could be a fit, and drew teaching him to be a pro might work. I'd welcome the pick in the 2nd round.

As we've said, if you're willing to pick him at 42, you're MUCH better off picking him at 32.

Mahomes had the best game a QB has had since Cam Newton in that bowl game. He made plays with his arms and his legs, against a very talented D. He did what Manziel and Deshaun Watson couldn't.

I don't think so either. If we love him enough to take him in the first round, Payton is not gonna sit back and wait and cross his fingers for him to maybe drop. They'll aggressively go up and get him. Like you mentioned earlier, we're more likely to take him at 11 than 32. Because if he is who they see taking over for Brees, they can't chance another team falling in love with him too.

But it may wins up being a self-fulfilling prophesy with Brees. You take Mahomes in case he leaves, but I think either taking him at 11 or trading up from 32 to get him may be the final nail in the Brees' departure. I'm not sure he extends if we do that. I think he'd play next year and throw the deuces.

I'm not so sure.

Sean Payton interview - 2-4-2017
quote:

If you can’t watch the clip above, Sean explains that he doesn’t see any signs of decline in Drew Brees and feels no urgent rush to find Drew’s heir apparent in New Orleans. He credits Drew’s workout and conditioning regiment, and says that Drew has plenty left in the tank.

Sean also discusses the probability of only finding a future starting QB in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft, but also explains the Saints’ more pressing need to draft players in those two rounds that can help the team win in 2017.

He does mention Aaron Rodgers being drafted as a replacement but bases it in context of his value being so good at #24 overall.

Brett's the quarterback, but the value changed so much for Aaron, we have to take him

Plenty. Tim Couch had a pretty amazing NFL career. So did Case Keenum and Tommy Chang.

Just food for thought.

quote:

As for Deshaun Watson, he had an inconsistent showing. His deep ball was good, but his accuracy was underwhelming. Watson needed a great day because of numerous lingering concerns from NFL teams, as well as his poor showing in the throwing-power drill at the combine, as his ball velocity measured at just 49 mph, which was far worse than the other top quarterbacks:

Pat Mahomes: 60 mph
Davis Webb: 59 mph
DeShone Kizer: 56 mph
Jerod Evans: 55 mph
Mitchell Trubisky: 55 mph
Brad Kaaya: 53 mph
Nathan Peterman: 53 mph
Deshaun Watson: 49 mph

Can he throw the ball 60 yards while on his knees though?
