The only game that I saw him play was the bowl game against LSU a couple of years ago. I thought he was pretty impressive considering the fact that he was running for his life the entire game. He could be a Russel Wilson type of QB IMO. The Saints need to figure out the QB situation ASAP. Unless Saints fans are cool with Luke McCown taking over.

I agree with this. Love the kid. He has a live arm, can make pretty much all of the throws accurately. They play a super spread offense and throw the ball a lot, but we do, too.... Honestly the guy who eventually takes over for Brees is going to be someone who is used to being a volume passer, which Mahomes definitely is.

He has some issues with his footwork and sometimes he pulls the trigger too fast, but those things are easily fixable. A year or two under Brees with Payton and Lombardi in his ear would be great for the kid.

The truth is the guy sucks. He plays in an air raid offense but has a weird throwing motion, a weak arm, and terrible footwork

I agree that he has terrible footwork and came from a gimmick offense. He has not had to call plays in the huddle or play under center. However, you are way off base with regards to his arm. He has a cannon for an arm.

Is after all his years of playing QB his "footwork" easily fixable?

It's hard to consider it live when j watch it bc he has an awkward motion. He kinda short arms it. Send me a vid of him letting one rip and I'll buy in

Edit : never mind I like this throw

unfortunately Bones point about the 5th year option being more important for QBs is true. I'm preparing myself to accept him at #32.

This really influences my thought about getting Butler. I would much rather hand it back to the Pats and pay him than count on such a high risk pick.

Its not like we'd have 3(maybe 4) other high picks.

Seriously if it happens like:

1: Best Pass Rusher
2: Mahomes
3: Best DB
4/5: At least one quality defender

Whats the problem?

I pick Watson at 11th pick. Patrick is a 3rd rd selection.

"Pat Mahomes looks like he's just been given a gift to do this and it was exciting," NFL Network analyst and former NFL quarterback David Carr said during the broadcast. "All the different throws, the corner routes, the speed outs, he's going to grow underneath center, but, for me, he was fun to watch. I'd pay to watch him."

SOURCES TELL US "He's got a great arm, big balls and he's mobile. He is going to drive his head coach crazy for the first couple of years and there is no getting around that. If it clicks for him and he's coachable, I think he could become a special quarterback." - NFC executive

We did this shite with Bryce Petty a few years ago and also with Grayson. Sure the Saints are going to make private workouts but what NFL team isn't doing this?

If they want a QB with a cannon arm that can play backup QB I hear Kapernick is looking for work. Plus you'll probably gain a compensatory pick just for signing him.
