I watched less college football this season than any other year in the 40ish I’ve been watching. Not out of protest or anything, more just due to life circumstances and LSU sucking. And I haven’t really gotten into the pre-draft season yet.

All that to say, I’ve seen Caleb Down play, I’ve seen some highlights, but much much fewer than I would have in years prior. But isn’t he the kind of safety with his body type and athleticism that can come down and play in the box in certain areas packages? And even come further down and rush the passer off the edge? Maybe I’m wrong and he’s just a ball hawking big hitter, but for him to be considered such a great prospect and in the mix to go top 5-10, doesn’t he have to be a pretty a-typical safety that can be used in a variety of ways?

I think there’s some gamesmanship happening right now. Way too much smoke for it to be one of these two. I think they are trying to get someone to jump us for Love so one of the DEs falls to us. I find it difficult to believe they are playing with all their cards face up on the table

Mickey has to ask himself, is Downs the missing piece to going to the playoffs. IMO, he's not. Downs' going to be a great player and he's going to do great things in the NFL. I would draft Love

You want Mickey to question if Downs is the missing playoff piece but convince himself that Love is the missing playoff piece because that's what you did in your head?

Love is also not the missing piece to going to the playoffs.

Love is actually the ONLY player in the top 10 that is left on an island either making it happen himself or fully relying on the OL.

Love is the "missing playoff piece" if we add the other 3+ playoff pieces that help him perform and get the ball in his hands..

These leaks have to be on purpose if not you have another big mouth Sean Payton Mahomes situation. They can’t be that stupid again. You never let on to who you really want or your intentions in the NFL,unless you are an egotistical arse like SP.

I mean there's a very good chance we are either choosing between one of these guys or choosing which one is left.

My draft board would be:

1. Bailey
2. Downs
3. Tate
4. Bain + top 75 pick
4. Delane + top 75 pick
5. Styles + top 75 pick
6. Love

We don’t need an elite guard. We need a viable NFL starter and put him next to one of our first round tackles.

No he doesn’t. He needs to ask himself if he’s going to become an elite nfl starter. We need elite players as this roster gets better. Playoffs will come if the team as a whole is good enough whenever that is.

Caleb Downs averaged 2 picks a year and 1.5 forced fumbles a year over three years at Ohio State. He never scored a TD.

That’s not Ed Reed or Palomalu. He may be a great pro, but don’t pick him in the top 10.

Moore is going to build this team inside out. Get the hogs with ur 1st and 2nd picks. Unless the value is too great to pass on the 2nd. Pick up a really nice guard and DT in free agency. Sign DD and a free agent CB maybe TE.
Next year we should be picking receivers and backs.

I’ve been watching football since 1957. And while I’m not a scout or know-it-all fan, I do know football players when I see them. Ok. Love is a special player. Few RBs have his explosiveness and strength. Of late, he reminds me of Bijon Robinson and dare I say Christian McCafferty and Saquon Barkley. If the Saints pass on him … well, there’ll be a lot of tears this time next year.

What Ronnie Lott? I’m taking Ronnie at #1. Although in today’s game, he get ejected like every game.

Which means we aren't drafting either one, but want other teams to think we are.

Using a top 10 pick on a running back never works out. Sign Tyler Allgeier and get the best WR or EDGE with the 8th pick.

There are multiple pro scouts saying that he's possibly the greatest Safety they've ever evaluated coming into the draft. Including Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu.

Not saying he'll be as good or better as the two GOATs, but his ceiling is clearly in that neighborhood.

Just going back 10 years

2015 - Todd Gurley - led league in TDs and scrimmage yards
2016 - Zeke - led league in touches, rush yards multiple times
2017 - Fournette - stalled out due to injury but was a key cog in a SB winner and had some good years
Mcacaffrey - led league in scrimmage yards and TDs multiple times
2018 - Barkely - led league in scrimmage yards multiple years, key cog in SB winner
2023 - Bijan - led league in scrimmage yards last year
2025 - Jeanty - jury still out

No RB you can get this year is on the same planet as Love

You definitely don’t want me to pull this up.

He was a top 15 pick. He’ll go 4-6 slots later than Downs.

Im definitely right and your wrong. If I was wrong he wouldn’t have been drafted that high. Typical saints fan delusion trying to re write history after the fact..

Second of all “generational” wasn’t even a word used at the time its a word you followers who get all your information from TV can’t stop using. A word that is suddenly heavily used after Trevor Lawrence was drafted.

I immediately have to disregard what someone says using that word I know you don’t think for yourself

He was a top 15 pick at safety he had to be pretty damn good.

Vaccaro was thought of as a an above average player with a 1st round grade. NO ONE including Saints media had his potential on the level of a Troy Polamalu, Ed Reed, or Ronnie Lott. Downs has had that degree of potential attributed to his game since high school sports. Downs may not ascend to the HoF level of the men mentioned, but he’s definitely seen as a far better prospect than Vaccaro was when he was drafted.
