I do

I don't remember. Please supply the facts and numbers for this well researched statement. I need some schooling.

There’s no way you are these two things:

1) smart
2) wise

Baker Mayfield - trash
Tom Brady - will retire
Lamar Jackson - LOL
Jimmy Garoppolo - meh
Daniel Jones - trash

after that, about every backup you can think of.

Not a good year for a free agent QB.

This is a stretch. The OL is folding like origami and the DL isn't getting a ton of pressure

Yeah I finally had to say “we just suck” yesterday. So much talent but it honestly appears to be a coaching issue.

Is Jimmy even a FA? I thought he signed on for a few more years to be the highest paid backup (basically meaning they are going to try to trade him again)

I do

I can remember multiple 1-2 starts under Payton.

That said, right now we are a bad team and we have several reasons as to why.

-Carmichael's playcalling has been shite. Anyone can see that we are operating best at the 4min offense, been like that since Week 1, even the casual fan can see yet they have not made any adjustment
-Jamies needs to play better
-O-line needs to block better, particularly against the pass rush
-Ingram & Kamara need hold onto the ball
-D-Line needs to generate pass rush
-Defense needs to stop the run better
-Lutz needs to make his kicks

It's kind of insane how garbage it's been. I saw a stat that yesterday we had 7 separate occasions where we threw an incomplete pass on 1st & 10, and then had a run for no gain on 2nd down. How can you be that predictable?

You finally just said that?

Jameis was the starting QB last year. Stats propped up by 2 "good" games where he had a couple TD's that were redass.

I am not trying to blindly defend Winston, just pointing out all considerations.

First season for Dennis Allen as HC of this team, after a shite show in Oak

Carmichael finally 100% on his own with game planning, calling plays, running the tempo (those other years he had Payton and Brees having major influence)

Winston trying to resurrect his career after his 5th season in TB. First 4 would probably be considered above average QB play, last season it looked like he was starting to make better decisions

I think the board can all agree the problem with this team is wrapped up in these 3. Could be all 3, 1 of them, 2 of the 3... On the surface the easiest tell would be to give Dalton some games and see if it injects life in the offense. Problem is, if Winston really isn't the problem and you do this, you really can't go back to him. I would actually like to see them just say frick it and let Winston go YOLO for 1-2 games and run a similar offense that we have in the end of all 3 games. The offense has a spark, it moves the ball, scores... At this point, the worse case is the team ends up 1-4, then you bring out Dalton against Cincy. Best case we found a new identity and this offense is something to get excited about

They actually took off a few years and gave him a 1 year deal and no trade clause.

The Zombie's post laughing at Lamar; looks like he's going to the highest bidder (not saying I want to see the Saints be that team) with the most guaranteed. Could be interesting to see what happens, and could mean there will be another vet looking for a job next year that isn't on your list

I member.

This team is talented but but not good.

Even the defense doesn't look like a cohesive unit. (probably due to frustration with the offense, remember the 80's/90's)

Coaching? Lack of locke room leadership? (On the offense I definitely believe so)

The offense has no leader right now, Winston ain't that guy. That pity party on the sidelines when the coaches were working with him was a glaring problem with him. Never did you see Brees show frustration on the sideline when the teams failures were due to his poor play.

That aside Winston is Winston, he's not an elite QB and never will be, but you don't need an elite QB to win in the NFL. But you can't win without a competent QB that the team trusts and believes in.

There are plenty of arguments against EV. But good luck finding a gas station in or near a hurricane zone.

I'm sure the staff remember that they traded away their 2023 #1 draft pick which was NOT a good idea.
There were too many unknowns to trade away any picks for 2023. It is DA's first year as HC. They should have traded down to get more picks for 2023.
Instead this will cause them to take 2 years to rebuild instead of 2023. They don't have enough picks or cap space to rebuild quickly.
