You're surprised by this? I've always thought it was going to be DA. I've been set up for disappointment for weeks

i'm surprised with the low level effort of the search. i thought mickey would have exhausted a bit more outside thinking and then coming back to DA hire if he still chose.

They've never had any intention of hiring anyone but DA. So you really thought wrong.

He is there guy.

However, if both the Dolphins and Texans make hires first and they are all white guys...we may be in a spot.

this is not how it works. its his job to make sure dennis allen is the right guy. he even said it. i don't think he's just going through a charade here. his candidacy pool is lacking which you aren't even really disagreeing with me on.

Would Flores consider a defensive coordinator job, with Dennis Allen as head coach and Pete Carmichael as OC?

Most head coaches that get fired don't become new head coaches right away. They get demoted to a coordinator position, then a couple of years later move back up to head coach.

Brian Flores and Ryan Nielsen and Kris Richard.

None of previously coordinated (in nfl, nielsen has college experience). Which ones know DA system best? Which ones have no baggage?

I wouldn't say low effort. Honestly, outside of Daboll and McConnell, are there any guys you'd actually be excited to lead our franchise? McDaniel isn't a NOLA guy. Take one look at him. He's a SoCal, Miami bitch. Both Daboll and McConnell were snatched up pretty quickly. So was Hackett. I'd have more faith in Bienemy if I didn't watch the Chiefs offense struggle to maintain some kind of identity despite having three generational talents on offense. I agree on Rizzi and Glenn, though apparently Rizzi is well regarded around the league and is considered one of if not the best ST coaches in the league. I wouldn't have minded Pederson I guess.

I mean, who else is there? I think they've brought in enough guys. None of them are guys I want outside of Flores. But that's not happening. The only guy I wanted us to take a look at that we never did was McDaniels. It's DA man, always has been.

He probably liked the idea of Florida and working with the young QB

Eric Bienemy- Give me a break. He lacks organizational leadership characteristics. He's a puppet under Reid with some of the best weapons in the NFL over the past 6 years. I don't even see the argument for EB over an interview for PCJr.

How do you know this? I don't care one way or the other about EB but I'm curious how you came to this conclusion about a guy that's held in high regard among other coaches and could possibly be the guy to take over when Andy Reid retires

This is an interesting take. Because all of Andy Reid's OC's have become head coaches, but only one have won him a Super Bowl with a league MVP and the best offense in the NFL.

Andy Reid has actually said that Eric B called the plays.

I find it comical that all the guys you believe we missed on are white for one and don't have the track record of success that Eric B. Andy Reid has never won a super bowl or made consecutive Super Bowl without Eric B.

Very unimpressive list of 2nd tier candidates.

Saints FO have been on auto pilot the last 16 years.

This is flat out a very poor list of candidates. It shouldn’t be hard to follow obvious league trends to pair down a lost

It is pretty clear that Loomis is wanting to stay within the culture and environment that the saints have established with Payton as HC.

Flores and Bienemy are "cover our bases" interest to make sure they are not passing someone really special.

Pederson I believe from past statements is a coaching buddy of Payton.

Also, I think the coaching family tree is more powerful in the NFL than most fans understand. It is almost like there are culture cliques by geography that certain organizations stay within and that HC fit or do not fit in.

Outside of Daboll and McConnell, there aren’t a lot of impressive candidates period this hiring cycle.

there aren't a lot of OBVIOUS impressive candidates, which leads to my point that you have to do little bit better of digging and giving some additional candidates the opportunity to be impressive.

If you read my post I never dismissed those coaches only your lazy premise that shear numbers of candidates equals "feeling better" about our search.

It’s not our job to finger them. They have good coaches everywhere if you know where to pick from

It's Dennis Allen forget about it. As well it should be.
