It's hard to believe there are actually people who didn't like this extension.

there has always been a small contingent of saints fans that tried to downplay PT's role and ability.

Hell, I liked the extension this extension gave me.

I think this is a great extension. For one, Pierre Thomas is about as reliable as they come. Two, as everyone gets older it seems like the tread on his tires has been kept relatively low compared to other running backs. I don't mind him staying for two more years.

I really wasn't referring to your comments. While I don't necessarily agree with what you said, I do understand where you're coming from. It was more directed towards the comments of blueboxer who compared re-signing Pierre to being too loyal to Vilma and Smith.

quote:

I love everything Pierre has done for us, but this is a mistake if you ask me. This is the same thing as being "loyal" to Vilma and Will Smith. We all know how that worked out last year.

But Pierre Thomas is actually still good. Will Smith and Vilma hadn't been good or helpful in years.

I know, I saw that comment and that was a stretch. We knew Vilma/Smith had almost nothing left in the tank. PT can still produce, I just think we were doing well without him that we could've saved the extra few millions and got a quality flyer player, rollover cap, or used that to sign graham.

Former Saints safety Roman Harper visited with the division-rival Carolina Panthers on Wednesday, according to the Charlotte Observer. There have been no reported visits yet for the other veterans the Saints have released (Lance Moore, Will Smith, Jonathan Vilma and Jabari Greer).

Wait what?
I mean the Saints unloaded all their good players because of cap issue due to Greedy Breezy and Alligator Jim!
How can this be? The experts said were screwed.
Hmmmm. 1 visit total

I would have thought Greer could get a visit, but he just might not be healthy at all.

goat....this is a perfect example of media needing something to talk about. These guys have to know better.

However, I can somewhat see their point with the Sproles thing, but I lean toward agreeing with the Front Office.

I do think they moves they have made to this point were a necessary evil and will pay off longer term for the team.

ETA: They are getting younger.

Pierre Thomas isn't very expensive and he fits our offense. I don't think we can get a guaranteed better replacement for only about 2 and a half million.
