I dont see how you get less for payton than the raiders got for gruden. Payton is a more accomplished coach than gruden was when that trade went down. Id also send dennis allen with him as part of the deal just for sticking us with him for a year.

Brees had a passer rating 116.3 and 106.4 and QBR of 73.3 and 68.3 those years. Herbert hadn't broken 100 yet on passer rating or 66 in QBR. Don't run down Brees
Brees was injured in those games, but healthy he was better than Herbert has been yet. Herbert has a huge arm, but Brees was still deadly accurate

A 1st in 2023 would be nice but it’s not necessary. However 1 or more 1st in the future seems the going rate.
I remain confident the Loomis will not give away the leverage the Saints have in CSP. And I don’t believe CSP would intentionally try to screw the Saints. It’s nice to have multiple teams interested and CSP expressing interest in those same teams. (Though not out his mouth, I’m sure the reports aren’t inaccurate)

Dude, i get it. I watched brees throw every pass those two years. He is my favorite player ever, but his arm limited him and his offense to playing in a phone booth. Everything had to go perfect for it to work.

An indictment of the coaching he has received. He has constantly been playing behind schedule with the conservative offense run by his coaches until they have to start throwing and the terrible defense the chargers put out there.
Furthermore, staley is a defensive coach whose defense hasnt been good there, the ultimate indictment of a head coach in my opinion

There should only be a few teams not trying to get Payton. Interested to see how they fumble what should be a bidding war.

Rams are in worse shape than us. Age is beginning to catch up to Donald. Stafford looked a little old and beat up this year, made a huge fa signing bust in Allen Robinson. OLine has no talent and is bad. And no draft picks. No way I’d want to go there.

Both sides have leverage though. Saints don't have to trade Sean, and Sean doesn't have to coach for a team he doesn't want to. This will prevent a bidding war imo

And smart by Payton, Fangio is one of the best in the league. Wherever he goes, he will be trouble.
Other thing that no one is mentioning. Compensation better be way higher if he’s trying to go to a NFC team.

There's no denying Herbert's talent level, but the production isn't there to match it. Hell, Dalton has a higher passer rating than Herbert this year. Dalton has had huge injury issues on oline and wr to deal with too.
