They've had this scheduled for days so it is nothing new, for anyone that is wondering.
The speculation has been that if anything was going to happen, it would happen prior to the PC. It is going to be painful if they go into this without anything resolved and CSP just gets up there and deflects.

The general twitter buzz today is that if the PC stays at 1, he's staying. If it gets delayed, something is going down.

True that it's been scheduled for days but it was RE-scheduled from a press conference he was supposed to give on... Sunday I think? Anyway the assumption is they pushed to Wednesday to give the Coaching position issue time to work itself out. I can't imagine what he'll talk about if there's no news on the coaching front...

I think him and Loomis sat down for a long time and discussed what needed to be done to right the ship. Probably a lot of hand shake agreements and Payton getting more control on personnel decisions.

He's going to finish his marriage to Drew Brees in New Orleans. Personally, I'd love to see him start a new era after Brees as well.

That's the thing. I want him to be the coach with Brees until he hangs it up, but what does he do after that? Does he accept the challenge of bringing up the next master of his system or does he take it elsewhere?

It depends on his goals as a coach I guess. I would like to see him do it here after Brees retires. And that could also mean if Payton stays after Brees, Brees could stay in a different role. Drew is very smart, but he's also very well-spoken. He'd have a career on the sidelines as well as on TV.
