Pathetic franchise. Can’t wait to win 7-8 games and get a mid draft pick

The can has been kicked so far down the road I can’t even see it anymore.

Seriously, where is the light at the end of the tunnel of this cap hell?

No team this terrible should be in this bad of a cap situation

We're somewhere in the $9-10M range away from compliance. They still have action to take with Taysom, Jordan and Mathieu - hopefully in the form of pay cuts. They could easily restructure all 3 as well and gain an additional $20M in space now, but I'd guess they'll talk pay cuts with the 3.

I expect them to do these as well:
- Restructure Ruiz - $6.4M
- Resturcture Granderson - $5.3M
- Something with Shepherd - Cut outright $1.2M, post june 1 $5.3m (would get 4.9 on June 2), restructure $3M
- Something with Saunders - Cut outright $2.5M, post june 1 $3.9m (would get 1.4 on June 2), restructure $1.9M

I expect we end up somewhere in the $15-25M in space range, depending on what happens with those older guys taking pay cuts. It could end up more.

This is the year the fans would absolutely give you a pass to eat dead money as long as it was to restart this franchise. Of course they don't take advantage of that. They just kick the can and continue to live in mediocrity.

And so it begins.

We can't get under that cap that way. If we don't get under the cap, as I understand it, we give up draft picks.

What does the restructure realistically do to his contract? That’s a massive chunk of money to open up, but I’m assuming makes it tougher for us to move on from him if he blows this year?

So if his cap hit is $69M in 2026-7 we have an opportunity to let that ride and be really bad coming up to the Arch Manning draft. If we are 8-9 again next year, I say trade our tradable young players and let everyone else expire. No restructures. Release Carr, take the hit and start Haener. We might not win a game. Sorry, have to find something uplifting in this news.

The converted salary money is added to the amortized signing bonus amounts up until 2028 (can't put it past there as there is no CBA and no cap starting in 2029 as of now). I'm seeing it be discussed as a 2026 cap cost of $69 million.

I'd suggest watching Spotrac's X account for updated amounts and perhaps a breakdown of what it would cost to cut him next year.

On the bright side, Carr's cap will be less than Deshaun Watson's 2026 cap hit.

No cba shouldn't affect the structure of the deals you can make under the current cba (you operate under the assumption the structure will be the same or similar).

Also, no cap being set for 2029 yet shouldn't matter either as no official cap has even been set for 2027 (maybe not even 2026 for that matter).

If we frick up and jam ourselves up if for some reason things go sideways, we will have to figure out how to get out of it, but otherwise you should be able to do all the things you could do any other year.

For proof that this info is incorrect about not prorating into 2029 just look at McCoy's redone contract. Proration into 2029:

McCoy's Contract

So not sure where you got that info from, but that has never been the case in the past and isn't the case now.

And he isn't the only player we have prorated money into 2028 or 2029 either (Carr's also runs into 2029).

Edit:
Looks like Kamara and Werner even already have dummy years for 2029 and 2030 that were put in when they redid contracts last year with the obvious intention that we are going to restructure them this year and next year (since the proration last year couldn't spread out that far and the proration this year can't be spread to 2030).

4 other players with a dummy year in 2029 but no money on it yet also include Jordan, Davis, Ruiz, and Granderson, which signals intent to restructure all 4 of them this year, though it's possible we could go a different direction with Jordan if he pushes the issue (would need to be a June 1st cut).

And looks like Moreau and Saunders may get the restructure treatment this year as well since both have a dummy year in 2028 with no money on it yet. Being on the lower end of money it looks like we didn't see a need to spread their hits over 5 years, instead just doing 4.

Added Godchaux and Demario restructure news

Demario move should free up around $5M in space. Cant know where we are compliance wise until we see the redone Godchaux contract.

simple restructures to demario, granderson, and ruiz puts us close to 4-5 million in cap space and that's before the redoing of godchaux.

before casualties of possibly Mathieu, Shepherd, Saunders, Wilson, maybe an olave trade etc.

As they are on their last year, they would need to be June 1st cuts or we'll lose cap. Doesn't mean they won't get cut, but it won't be until then if so.

Edit:
Double checking, we can actually absorb Tyrann's hit if cut now as it would only be an extra million over, but Jordan adds 4 mil over if cut now.

Hill is also the most obvious June 1st cut aside from Jordan, IF we want to part ways. We'll save 10 mil on the cap if we do.
