Just how bad our defense is this year. Like really bad. The offense under Dalton has been putting up 30+ a game and he still only has one win.

Our defense is 2nd to last in the entire NFL in ppg given up. Only Detroit is worse. And if you average just the last three games, which is a trend, our team is actually dead last.

So it doesn’t matter if we’d have a prime Drew Brees right now, we’d still be losers. Sad that we hire a defensive minded head coach and the results are we have one of the worse defenses in the entire league. Total failure.

4 players we let walk that would have this defense still elite:
Hendrickson
Bell
Williams
CGJ

Loomis loves kicking the can down the road, he should have done it to keep them.

Yea I don’t want to hear crying about injuries. Our front 7 has been completely healthy all year.

Lattimore just missed the last two but Adebo played the last few before Zona and Roby only got hurt last game. Roby was the Texans number one corner a couple years. Add to that a high 2nd round pick at corner and we have had starter level players playing at corner.

Offense would have more of a gripe having no starters at receiver for 3-4 games.

Buckle up. Next few years are gonna be rough.
We have to get thru the cap mortgage coming due and re-collect our draft capital.

There’s been some good and bad on defense.

Good: Werner and Adebo have been good draft picks and can be built upon. Davis and Cam are good leaders. Roby and Taylor are really good depth.

Bad: Maye, Davenport and Turner are perpetually injured. Honey Badger is bad. Defensive tackles are not living up to their potential. Dennis Allen is missed as the defensive coordinator.

Ugly: Turner pick looks terrible! We couldn’t afford Williams or Hendrickson, but we should have found ways to keep Bell and CJGJ.

Yep, Geno Smith carved us up real well, but Taysom saved the day with 4 TD’s.

That is the worst part. Allen still runs the defense, he’s just half-assing it now and wasting Nielsen’s focus on the DL which has cratered.

This was a stupid hire to anyone with a brain because it was destined to fail. Allen was a horrid head coach before and showed no promise in that time. Even as a DC, I think he is overrated.

They needed to bring in an offensive guy and if Allen left, so be it. He would have been replaced with a better version than what they have now.

Couldn't stay healthy for the saints, never played 16 games here.

Here is the last two years for Cam Jordan (whom the Hendrickson lovers say is washed up) and Hendrickson. Is one of these elite and one not?

CJ - 17 Sacks, 91 Comb - 59 Solo 32 Ast, 21 TFL, 29 QB Hits.

TH - 17.5 Sacks, 50 Comb - 32 Solo 18 Ast, 15 TFL, 28 QB Hits.

I would say most would like to have kept Williams but we just couldn't afford him. I like the idea of signing LSU players but only because I know what kind of players they are. I would prefer to sign them early rather than when they are near the end and a shell of their former selves.

CGJ added some attitude to our defense, which I liked. I do think he is missed because of that. But the fact is he was already asking more than his value so the trade to get something for him made sense, even if it was not what I personally would like to have seen.

And yet at the time no one around here could work the numbers to keep everyone we wanted. This 20/20 vision some of yall have now is greater than Superman's. Acting smart can be fun I guess.

What’s going on with him? I feel like he was all over the field last season covering sideline to sideline.. seemed to be always close to the ball/play.

Now It seems like I have to scan the field for his arm sleeves to find him. Is he playing with some injury we don’t know about? Was there a change in scheme?

Do you understand turnover differential and points off turnovers? Look it up and see who is worst in the league. No defense could survive the burden our offense has put on them via TOs.

Lose by 10 to TB. They get 10 points off two Winston TOs

Lose by 8 to CAR. Panthers scoop and score a Kamara fumble. FG blocked. Winston takes a crucial sack on 3rd down that leads to another long FG miss.

On top of not scoring any points for the first 3 quarters of either one of those games

Lose by 3 to MIN. They get a FG off a Dalton fumble

Offense and STs failed us in these games. It’s an offensive league, defense kept you close enough to win.

While I'm not disagreeing, this defense still has more than enough pieces to where they should be good. Maybe not as good as they've been as of late, but no reason to be as bad as they are. Mark the co-DC's as something else that's not working under Allen.

The defense has gotten worse every week

These last 3 or 4 games have been particularly awful

Good thing he didn’t play safety for us. We have been getting killed all year by whatever receiver goes against our nickel. We went from a plus defender at that spot to one of the weakest links on the D now. They tried Evans at the spot and he would give up 1st after 1st on 3rd down and now they have a washed Harris doing the same.

Once again monumental screw ups in personnel this off-season.

He fit into our system well here. He probably doesn’t fit into theirs.

The Drew Brees and Taysom Hill contract is why were not able to keep those guys.
