Drew Brees is behaving in a very desperate way.

His statement to the President appears to have been written for him.

I hope his family has not been leveraged in a way that would horrify the parents on this board.

Nah quitting being a fan over a social issue that is for the greater good is just a huge bitch move. It’s short sighted, it’s ignorant, it’s petty.

Reality of the matter is no one feels it or really cares when it comes down to it. It’s self serving to even declare that in front of people. Just go quiet. No one cares.

Ps see all you fricks in September

Sounds like you had a stable upbringing, had both parents in the house. Where’d they send you, Jesuit? Isn’t that right? The best private school in New Orleans ?

And it Sounds like as a father you have been able to take a lot away from how your own parents raised you? Built on your upbringing and your education you’ve been able to do that.

Literally none of this has to do with race. That’s my point.

I’m not privileged because I’m white. If anything I’m privileged because I have two loving parents. Plenty of Black people have similar upbringing and plenty of white people do not.

All of this racism nonsense is divisive window dressing to keep us fighting amongst each other instead of against an ever increasing powerful government. It’s nonsense.

quote:

There’s a guy who I pay to help me around the house sometimes. His name is Ben & he is 41 or 42. He is black & grew up in the projects in the West Bank. He didn’t know his dad at all. His mom is an alcoholic with a high school education. He’s used & sold drugs, because well, that’s he knew from growing up where he did. He’s been to jail. Drugs, domestic disputes. He can’t get a job at any place other than fast food type things. He of course has a young daughter with a woman he isn’t “with”. But hey, like your dad working 60hrs, that’s what he knows. I’m not asking you to feel sorry for him. But imagine going back 40yrs and you & him switched parents. Who the frick are you right now? Who is teaching you to be the man that you are right now? He didn’t ask to be born into that. His grandparents didn’t ask to be segregated. And generations before, slaves. What do you think these people had? Certainly wasn’t property or goods. They certainly weren’t educated.

Cool anecdote. I went to elementary school, high school, college, and law school with black People who came from loving two parent house holds and are going great in life. I also went to school with white kids who’s grandparents were illiterate poverty stricken people and they were raise in a single parent household and are not doing well.

Stop focusing on race. The problems in this country are due to factors that have nothing to do with race. Focusing only on race does nothing to acknowledge or help.

You want to have a “tough conversation in society we never have” let’s discuss single motherhood rates and the failing public education systems in our innercities. Which fail white and black and brown kids alike. Let’s discuss the welfare system.

With the lowest tuition and plenty of scholarships and diversity and a massive community outreach program we participate in every year and continue as alumni.

This sounds a lot like the argument for Nazis burning Jews were just following orders. So Brees felt pressure and any of us would have shite on the flag to make the mob happy? Brees is a total pussy. Just accept the fact he is a coward.

Kiss my arse. I’m not black but have likely dealt with more racism towards me in my life than 90% of them. I don’t go around bitching and moaning about it and acting like a victim 24/7 or when some disagreeing with my view equals hatred and wanting me enslaved or dead.

I have my convictions. I stand by them and don’t simply change them to avoid negativity from a mob.

Not many of us have frick you money either. Brees does. Regardless, all he had to do was say that he stands behind his comment that the national anthem is a time for of all backgrounds to unite behind making the country better for everyone.

You don’t sacrifice your morals and beliefs no matter what the pressure. Most basic biblical principle ever. But peter did deny Jesus three times, so

If he were just starting out, yeah it would be easy to cuck out I guess. But he’s a made man who could have held his ground and accepted the consequences. Not his locker room anymore.

I mean I probably wouldn't have been melting down like you have this week, OP, but I think I generally agree with the thread's premise.

You know something I've seen some fricked up things over the years following the Saints but this is in a completely different category.

i definitely don't think its the worst thing I've seen but it is one of the more bizarre things.

If I had told you everything (not just saints related) that was gonna happen in the first six months of 2020 ( atleast up until June 6) last year on June 6, 2019 you would have told me to seek professional help.

i'll say this, it has been harder to get into games as ive gotten older but maybe thats the way its supposed to be?

but im not gonna stop rooting for the Saints either.

i will not be one of these miserable assholes on here just filling the board with all of their negative bullshite though.

there won't be any sunshine pumping from this guy either.

it is just different to me as i get older.

has nothing to do with the current circus in town.

Disagree. And sure I may not have as much to lose but I also don't have the leverage that Drew has either. If I had a family I might have to apologize because I wouldn't be able to relocate my family or have private security. Both of those are things Drew has or can do.

Drew let a lot of us down because he is one of the few people who can stand up for what a lot of us believe and take the pressure. He was at the end of his career, he had nothing left to prove. He could've just retired with him and his family on a one way trip back to San Diego. Live in a nice gated community by the ocean, kids would go to a majority white rich private school in San Diego and he could have both security in terms of the gated community as well as private security in front of his house.

If Drew can't stand up for those of us who share his opinion who is? If he can't stand up for the beliefs that a lot of us have what chance do we have?

This is why I have such respect for Donald Trump. Trump has taken more in a single day than Brees will ever take in his life and he hasn't backed down. That's having a spine there, something Brees seems to have never had.

This is all so sad. With the pandemic I was craving sports and especially football season. That's all gone now. Definitely done with the NFL.

Brees doesn't realize it, but he won't get the job with NBC regardless of what he says or does. If NBC (or any network) tries to hire him, blacks will bring up this whole ridiculous mess and demand that the job goes to a former black player. He crawled and groveled for nothing.
