Where are we headed with this? Are we keeping this in house?
Is Payton considering someone on another team Fitzpatrick-
Andy Dalton? Does he go to the boneyard ? Rivers-Newton?
I don't have a clue. It's shite or get off the pot time.
What say you
Also while we're at it any ideas on wr? I think at this point their is less of a chance of CSP pulling the trigger on a wide receiver but you never know.

He should sue that coach in Carolina that changed his throwing motion.

What a stupid idea that turned out to be

I’m hoping we make a WR splash. I don’t see a QB splash happening.

The Chicago media is floating the idea of Andy Dalton trade and his fit for the Saints. The Saints front office has the Chicago connection with Bears GM Ryan Pace. If the Saints do see the need to bring in a QB, Dalton would have to be at the very top guy on the list.

There are two ways the saints can make this trade work. They could make it a near ZERO cost for the saints by offering a mid round pick OR they could get Dalton for a late rounder and be on the hook for cap money that would require some money movement.

Brining in Dalton would solve this years late season playoff run and give the saints a legitimate deep run AND it would give the saints the opportunity to secure the QB position until the next franchise QB is found whether that is Winston or some other QB.

Edit addd: I did more digging on this and Chicago wants to unload Dalton for the roster spot. A 6th round pick would be a freaking steal for his services in the middle of the season. The Cowboys could be interested since they are looking like a contender and Dak is getting banged up. CSP stating they are not looking bring in a QB is decoy so that another contender does not force them into a bidding war. Jerry Jones would absolutely try to circumvent the saints shoring up the QB position this season.

quote:

QB Andy Dalton
With the on-field development of Justin Fields in full swing, there’s absolutely no justification for keeping both Andy Dalton and Nick Foles on the roster. If the Bears can get something for either of them, a move should be made before Tuesday.

Dalton was playing pretty well before he suffered a bone bruise in his left knee and lost his starting spot to Fields. If I’m Sean Payton in New Orleans, I’m at least intrigued by Dalton after Jameis Winston suffered a season-ending knee injury Sunday. The Saints still have Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemien, but they’re now 5-2 and looking like a playoff team after beating the Buccaneers on Sunday. Dalton has playoff experience and would appear to be a good fit. He has made it clear he still wants to be a starting quarterback and an opportunity on a potential playoff team would have to be intriguing to him.

Contract situation: The Bears are going to have $5 million in dead cap on the books next year regardless. There’s about $1.324 million left on Dalton’s base salary this year, which makes him an affordable option for the Saints, who have almost zero cap space. The Bears could just pay that remaining salary in the form of a signing bonus to secure a decent draft pick in return.

Id give a pick swap for any dalton.

You need a true backup anyway.

Book isn't ready to play.

Wouldn't hate Dalton if he's healthy and wants to come but would be damned surprised.
Hoping CSP can find a upgrade to the WR's more than a new QB.

I would rather get Fitzpatrick if he is healthy.

He was expected to miss 8 weeks with his hip injury back on Sept 16th (whatever week that was). That 8th week would be next week. Definitely interesting to see if they make a move on Fitzpatrick. I kinda doubt it though.

I'm just not a Dalton fan.

Sign Rivers to the practice squad

Trade for Fitzpatrick

Trade for a pass catcher. Receiver or Tight end to help open up the offense.

I think if there's any move today, it'll be for an offensive threat. At this point, some targets could be TE Evan Engram, WR Jamison Crowder, WR Denzel Mims, and WR Darius Slayton.

I think they'll ride with either Hill or Siemian for the rest of the season. I'd actually be surprised if we made any moves today.

The guy who got edged out in a QB competition less than two months ago is still on the team. They are not signing a new starting QB.

I think the WFT sees Fitz as their starting QB when he comes off injury. Have you seen how inconsistent Heinicke is?

I'd be okay with sticking with the Monkey Man at QB...
