The odds of finding a good QB after the 1st round are much lower than other positions based on recent history.

If you delve deeper, the odds of finding a QB after pick #15 are pretty horrible. Since 2010, QBs picked 15th-32nd in 1st Round:

Jordan Love
Lamar
Paxton Lynch
Manziel
Bridgewater
EJ Manuel
Brandon Weeden
Tebow

That third pick has got to be a WR.

Why? If you have a top 5 WR and spend a first round pick on one…possibly sign another FA then that’s plenty investment into that position.

Jesus Christ our fans are so starved for fricking WRs they’d just assume draft nothing but fricking receivers. It’s ridiculous

WR is deep AF too - the mid round guys like Calvin Austin, David Bell, Khalil Shakir, etc scream value to me as well.

Callaway was a huge disappointment last year. I thought he would have a leap season. Trequan Smith hasn't been very good. Those are just a couple in the last few years.

Agreed. Thought he was primed to make a huge splash and he just couldn't get separation when lined up across from a true #1 corner.

That said, I have high hopes he will make a very good #3 or #4 with MT and a talented rookie getting the defense's attention.

Anybody else not quite sold on Jameson? Not only the injury but he's only performed for 1 season. I think he has the highest bust potential of an of the top 5 or 6 receivers. He also has a high ceiling tho.

Is he projected to be ready to play at the opener? Given the positional need, I'd hate to waste a pick on a guy who's still rehabbing.

Callaway was an UDFA. Those guys are going to essentially never produce as top guys. I’d say he’s actually WAY overproduced considering that. He averaged 15 ypc and caught 6 tds as a 23 year old with 4 different qbs(3 shitty). You simply can expect top production from bargain bin guys.

Smith was drafted at the end of the 3rd round. Not exactly a high pick either.

Callaway also had Trever Semien and Taysom Hill at QB.

As for Williams, Yahoo News says,

quote:

Williams is also recovering from ACL surgery in January and hopes to be cleared to play early as a rookie, maybe even getting some reps in training camp. And the Saints have an inside scoop on his recovery after hiring Alabama’s sports science director Matt Rhea, though by now every team should have a good idea of Williams’ medicals.

I’d hate that he wouldn’t come in immediately, but most rookie WRs don’t make an immediate impact. But if you think he’s a long term #1 or #1.5, take him for the value and just make Harris, Smith and Calloway step up the first few games.

If Jameson was healthy he’d be the consensus #1 receiver in this draft . I’d be willing to wait on him a bit.

I very seriously doubt that Corral will still be available in the 2nd round, but if we can get him at 49 then that could be the steal of the draft .
