And when has Payton shown the willingness to pay an offensive player not named Drew Brees a giant contract?
But let's worry about that down the line, we gots a SB to win.
Payton has never had this type of elite receiver besides Colston. Thomas is going to be better than Colston, and Colston is one of my favorite Saints ever.

we still have a segment of rahtards that believe MT is a product of Brees....not at all true. MT is a true alpha WR.
He's also been a monster in all 3 of his playoff games so far.

27 catches for 387 yards and 3 TDs

You absolutely pay him. Having an elite receiver on the team will make the transition away from Brees a little easier for whoever comes in after Brees when that time comes

quiet in the first half of the Vikings game...but man he came alive in that 2nd half and made Rhodes his bitch.

You gotta pay him, but it will be something the team regrets if they don’t nail Drew’s replacement

He will be very valuable for the progression of the successor to Brees. It will be worth the money.

And some posters wanted to cut him because he fumbled once in the Tampa Bay game to start the year

Im not sure you can. God damn this is bittersweet.
That's nonsense. Of course you can, and you will. There's a 0% chance Michael Thomas leaves the Saints and becomes a free agent. A long-term contract is most likely. A franchise tag and trade are the least likely. Him walking for nothing is at zero.

With investments in the offensive line and skill positions, Drew's replacement (I assume will be a rookie) will be in a good chance to succeed.
Wishful thinking anyway

i still think michael thomas is a type of WR that helps make a QB's life easier. Runs a lot of 10-15 yard dig routes, over the middle crossing routes... he catches anything possible. He's a WR security blanket for a QB.

I'd like to think the privilege of playing for the Saints is payment enough.

If Sammy Watkins got paid 16mil a year... I'll pay Mike Thomas 20mil

You pay him his money. He’s worth it. He’s Worth it now, and in the future. He’s a top talent at his position

Mike is arguably the most dominant player on our team and has been the difference in winning multiple games this year. He’s worth the $.

I think we have to bite the bullet and pay him. He's proved he's worth it.

Like someone else in the thread said, he's an alpha WR. Critical to the Saints success.
I know he is much taller and different measurables, but to me he is like a Steve Smith. As tough as they come. Downright mean on the football field. Makes tough, drive-extending catches. Blocks. Leads the team in attitude. Does whatever the offense needs.
You pay him and fill out the rest of the WR corps with, well, Kirkland types.
