Marquez Callaway

With all the receiver talk I think we are sleeping on him. Put up very respectable numbers last year for an UDFA in only his second year in the league. 46-698-6 and that was playing as our number 1 receiver and without Jameis most of the time. I think he’s is going to be dangerous as a number 3 for us or hell even as a number 2 for us if mike for some reason isn’t healthy. Point being everything he’s shown is improvement and this year he won’t be getting teams number 1 corner. I think he could have a big year.

He is nothing more than a #3 receiver. He will be a top end #3, elite #4

Legit #3 WR & a pretty good punt returner. Not bad for an udfa.
He's pretty clutch on 3rd downs & rarely drops a pass.

what Callaway was able to do as an UDFA in year 2 with that we had at WR and TE
with what was being trotted out at QB, RB, and OL on a weekly basis changing I thought he did really well
I think as long as he keeps putting in the work his ceiling as a no.3 WR in this offense is pretty high. Need Winston to come back healthy and find out the backlash in regards to Kamara but just between having a legit NFL QB and adding Thomas and Olave his life is going to be SOO MUCH EASIER.

This right here is what OP is talking about. Marquez does a great job and is a really good #2 so to have him as a #3 is really good value.

He is a legitimate number three guy. If he is the best you have you have a problem That is the problem we had last year.

The fact that this is getting downvoted is hilarious. Typical Saints Talk overvaluing players simply because they have a fleur-de-lis on their helmets at the time.
Callaway is just a guy. Nothing special about him. Servicable #3 and wouldn't be surprised if he's out of the league in 3 years.

He will have a great year with 100% less pressure as a #3.
He also learned the hard way about playing receiver at other positions.

I would. You seem to have a very negative opinion of certain players.

He’s a 3. The X,Y, and Z are very different positions and he will feast as a Y.

I am not down on Callaway at all. To put into perspective, he was asked to beat the equivalent of Lattimore, with safety help, every game last year, with journeymen throwing to him. He now gets to work against the likes of Bradley Roby, PJ Williams or Alontae Taylor each game.

This is just a dogshit take right here
So you are willing to crap on an undrafted free agent playing only two years in the league?
Guy happens to lead the team in receiving last year and most receiving TD's to boot.
All done with what 4 different QB's and busted up offensive line?
You know, if you wanna beef take it up with the Saints and how the Mike Thomas situation unfolded or the fact that they didn't do anything to address a position of need until giving a frick ton away to draft Olave.
get the frick out of here

111 career targets - 67/911/6. Not bad
Michael Thomas averaged 160 targets over his last three healthy years. 126/1,1458/7 avg
Callaway’s numbers extrapolated on 160 targets - 97/1,313/9
He’s going to be one of the best WR3 in the league

He’s a WR4.
Harris is our WR3 and will have a big year. Tyreek 2.0

Harris/Harty have to stay healthy. He's been banged up lately

I think I see a #3 by committee between Trequan/Calloway/Deonte right now with Trequan receiving the most playing time because he is the best blocker of the 3.
I do however think if Thomas or Olave are unavailable Calloway would jump into that spot & #3 duties would be split between Trequan & Deonte.

Damn, I forgot he was an UDFA. Dude plays like a second-day selection
I see us lining up with Callaway as the WR#3 with Taysom as the 4th WR or TE (splitting time with Trautman depending on the situation)

Deonte harty is going to absolutely go off this year.

I'm rooting for him, but this is Harty's make or break year. The 2 things he brings are speed & returning ability. Olave is also bringing speed now, and Easop Winston Jr seemed to do better on returns last year than Harty. If Easop can make any progress receiving, he can possibly push for Harty's roster spot in '23
Also what if Kawaan Baker makes a push for that spot too
Back to the point, I think Callaway performed about as well last year as you could imagine any WR who's not truly a WR1 to perform. Went through 4 QBs, and the opposing D had no other WR or really even TE to worry about so they could focus on him. I think he will be a solid WR2 / kickass WR3 that'll essentially take Tre'Quan Smith's roster spot

DJ Jackson may be better than them all. Can't wait to watch.
