It was obvious that his toe injury effected the second half of the season yet still Davenport is putting in work in the film room this offseason to improve his ability to understand what's necessary against certain offensive looks. Sounds like he also plans on watching film of other defensive ends in the league to possibly add some pass rush moves/run stopping techniques to his repertoire.

quote:

Davenport said this week that his review of his work in those games left him focused on what was missing.

“Honestly, I see I didn’t do enough,” Davenport said, via NOLA.com. “I see a lot of little mistakes, a lot of hesitation, missed opportunities. So, I’ve got to watch it over and over and over again and correct that, and I’ve got to watch more film on other people, too.”

Better health would help Davenport’s chances of making a bigger impact. He suffered a toe injury in the middle of the season and his productivity dropped off at that point. He had surgery this offseason and the hope across the board in New Orleans is that everything comes together in his second season.

If he can stay healthy, I think he will have a monster 2019 season.

He was a rookie that was playing on a toe injury, and he still had a huge impact in a bunch of games. Davenport is gonna be a monster for years to come.

I've posted this in other threads but he had better rookie year stats than 4 of the top 5 all-time Saints sack leaders (Only Will Smith was better), and with fewer games played.

Uhhhh.....yeah?

I'm a big supporter of him and that move. But of course you should see room for improvement. What's the alternative? That your limited rookie season is as good as you are going to get? Duh.

I can’t wait to see the chaos he and Jordan cause for opposing quarterbacks this year.

That's about as promising a statement as you can get from a young player.

Why do people focus on stuff like this? It’s obviously just the title of the article.

No, not in this context.

It's literally just the headline.
It's a summary of Davenport's quote about what he intends to do to improve.

thing that stood out most to me was him saying hesitation.
He def looked hesitant at times.
if he can fix that and know where to go and jump off the line, sky is the limit.
Still can't believe someone on here said jaylon Ferguson will be bettet

I hope so because I’m somewhat worried about our secondary.

yeah I hear you.

the safety play needs to be better (Williams). Not that he had a bad year but just seemed a step slower at times. Maybe he wasn't though who knows. Does anyone know how well the corners were jamming the WR's? That's hard to catch but if these WR's aren't getting checked good enough or consistently then it will make the safeties look worse than what they really are.

If you look at his highlights, the dude was mauling people last season. He’s violent at the LOS and that was with him not being comfortable getting into a three-point stance and hesitating a bit at the line.

If he can correct those things...man

I like the initial joke, but I dont appreciate the punchline. All love though Tech

Edit: Davenport clearly shows that he will be a beast as long as he can stay healthy. Im still glad we made that move. DE’s are such a critical position in the NFL. I think we got a good one. I cant wait to see him develop.

I bet he does....Lots of improvement will be needed to justify giving up 2 1st round picks for this cat. We could of had Khali Mack for that price and a Superbowl Ring. Hopefully he is working on not being last off the LOS when the ball is snapped
