Looking back it’s painful Brees didn’t walk away last offseason.

As we all know, Brady’s first choice was the Saints. I would always take a healthy Brees over any other QB just because of what Brees has done for the saints. That being said, after watching how good Brady looked this year and Brees consistently getting hurt it is somewhat painful. I will never bash Brees but his body just couldn’t hold up these last two years. Had Brees retired last year we most likely are the team hoisting the Lombardi.

On to a new era now..

What evidence is there that Tom Brady wanted to join the Saints?

You could do a quick google search if you are questioning the legitimacy of my info. But it was widely reported by good NFL reporters that the Saints were his first choice and that’s why he made his decision shortly after Brees announced he was coming back.

What hurts even more is knowing this compounded with the fact that Brees most likely would've retired in 2018 had we won the Super Bowl. The no-call robbed us of not one but TWO titles.

I've never researched it.

Florida has no state income tax. I thought that was the main reason.

Interesting to note that both Sean Payton and Tom Brady were born in San Mateo CA. Payton went to grade school in Ill., however.

Brady would have had to play behind the same o-line that gave Brees 11 fractured ribs, a collapsed lung, torn rotator cuff.... And, considering the key to stopping Brady has always been pressure up the middle, I'm not sure he fares much better with the way the guards played this season.

So Brees wasn't getting pressure up the middle on him most of the season? Did Brees not take some major hits because of inconsistent play from the guards & Center?

You do realize that a team can have "one of the best lines in the league" and still have problems. Hell PFF has the line ranked 8th overall and said the reason for not being higher was the pass blocking from Peat, Ruiz & Easton while praising the overall play of Armstead & Ram. So, it sounds like the criticism for the pass blocking in the middle would be warranted and is overshadowed in overall rankings because of their un blocking and elite Tackle play.

Also, if you need to resort to childish antics during a discussion shows that you have no facts to support your claims other than feelings.

I like everything about Brees but he held us back the last two seasons.. Although, he will forever have a lasting impact on NOLA and the fans.

It really is amazing how differently things could have turned out if the flag is thrown. I know it's no guarantee they win that SB, but a win over Brady and a 2nd ring totally change the way the casual fan views Brees. Plus, the nonsense from this summer never happens and we don't have to watch him break down physically because he would have at least retired after 2019, if not 2018.

I got nothing bad to say about the man, and I understand why he hung on as long as he could. Winning a SB is the only thing that could have washed away 2018 for him. It fricking sucks.

Well if he is intent on continuing to play sign him after his contract runs out next year. Win a SB for three teams.

I don’t think they would’ve beaten the Eagles. The Eagles crushed the Vikings the following week, and the Saints had injuries mounting up on both sides of the ball.

How do you figure 2 titles? Let’s say the PI was called and Saints go on to win the SB vs Patriots. Brees retires after the SB. Who would be the starting QB for 2019 and 2020 seasons? Brady would not have come here bc we already had a QB in place after Brees retirement. I would guess that Teddy would be here instead of playing in Carolina. Teddy would still be the QB so Brady still ends up in Tampa.
