Not to mention Teo is still an upgrade from last year and should be able to handle the field general role at LB.

The "rookies" aren't really rookies anymore either, and Bell + Crawley have another year under their belt from last year. I dont think communication will be the issue.

Well there isn't any glass half full with all these injuries except the positions we've been hit hardest DE,S, and LB we did start the season with those being the deepest positions. TE is a different story. Te'o is fine as far as communicating, one of his strengths is understanding offenses and being a smart football player. He is a downgrade compared to Klein b/c of coverage and speed to the edge. I'd compare Te'o to Curtis Lofton.

Losing Vaccaro hurts with run D for sure although Bell is pretty good as a tackler. We will see, when playoffs come offense needs to go to a whole new level of play, get Hendrickson back to help against the run, and everyone else stay healthy.

Any chance these wrist and groin injuries are related?

Vaccaro's penalties and big plays given up outweighed the good plays that he made. This isn't some huge loss other than the fact that Bell has struggled at times this year.

Negative. Te'o can actually get TFLs. Lofton was lucky to get a stop before a 5 yard gain.

This is a big chance for two guys. Bell and Williams getting their chance to step up and keep the job for longer than just this year.

They ball out, we let vaccaro walk unless the money is cheap

Losing Okafor, Klein and Vaccaro is going to make the D so much more vulnerable to the run. God dammit.

Didn't our team doctors essentially save his life?

Yes ...now he won't be the reason we lose in the playoffs.

I just mean they are both between the tackles type LBs, and both smart. Te’o has done a good job penetrating (hehe) the backfield.

Yea, once Hendrickson comes back, supposedly a 3 week injury it should help some. He was good against the run, definitely better than what we have now.

This is not good news

No it's not, he's very good against the run, but it has always seemed to me that Vaccaro gets hurt rather easily or plays with substances that are frowned upon by the league.

Has he ever played a full 16 games in any one season?

This all sucks. Williams and Bell need to step up and the line will have to play some hard core run defense.

I hate the falcons! Hate ‘em!

The injuries explain why he sucked so bad the last few weeks.

But unfortunately, the dude is injury prone like Ellerbe.

Time to move on from him and Breaux. We can't keep signing or re-signing guys that can't stay on the field. How many seasons of his have either ended on IR or through suspension?

Addition by subtraction. I like what Banjo and Bush bring to the table. Also, with a healthy Lattimore and Crawley, let PJ cover the slot. Maybe now we can get off the field on 3rd down even more without KV being handsy.

The defense has been fine with a bad KV on the field these last few weeks. He's been downright awful and now conveniently has an excuse for his horrible play when he hits free agency this offseason.

In the end, people are ignoring the impact the coaching changes have had on these position groups as well. It wasn't just some amazing play by a few individual players.

It will hurt depth, but as others have said Bush and Banjo healthy are better than what we saw from the injured Kenny V.

Furthermore, if stopping the run is the issue, we can just put an actual linebacker in and run a 4-3 instead of this 4-2-5 crap to "fit" KV's strengths ( ).

Honestly, we may get less mental errors with the other two.

I'm completely over Vaccaro. If he was injured so bad that he absolutely sucked (he did), he shouldn't have been playing.

That's on the coaches.

It's just too much to overcome this year.

I'd still like for us to be NFC South champs but it seems the football gods have knocked us out this year with all of the injuries.

It sucks losing starters, but I'm not ready to just give up on the season. The other NFC contenders have had to deal with significant injuries. It's part of it.

The Vikings lost their starting QB. They've found a way to continue on.

Philly looked like the best team in NFC...until they lost their franchise QB and potential MVP. I'd much rather be having to deal with replacing a strong safety (who the Saints have already won without) and MLB (who the Saints have already won without) than my starting QB.

Hell, even the Rams just lost their pro bowl kicker who was a huge weapon for them (ask the Saints...he kicked 4 FG's in a 6 point game)

The Saints damn near (and maybe should have) beaten Atl, on the road, in a game where numerous key players were knocked out with injury.

Do the injuries hurt the defense? Absolutely. But it's nice to have the #1 offense in football to potentially make up for the shortcomings. Maybe the Saints have to revert back a bit to winning shootouts. But I'm not ready to throw in the towel.
