You don't spend the #8 pick on a RB or WR.
Disagree on receiver.
You just saw a running back that had more yards and scored more touchdowns than Olave this past year and yet only got 8 million a year while Olave will get paid 30+.
That’s why u don’t draft running backs that high in the first. You want discounts at money positions for a few years. Absolutely No benefit to that at the running back position.

Unless your the coach that can see a fit.

If you ask any falcon fan they’d tell you Bijan was not who they should have drafted. They passed on Jalen Carter to select him and they’ve made the playoffs exactly 0 times with him. Saquan was also a mistake for the giants. They only passed on the qb who just won the Super Bowl and a guy by the name of Josh Allen. I don’t think there’s been a rb selected in the top 10 thats truly made a difference and got their team over the hump or even in the playoffs in the last decade.
I really like Love. I think he’s a phenomenal running back. Unfortunately for him you can find equal to or at times even better production in the mid to later rounds. So yes, I’d sign Hall or Walker who are both 25 and in their primes instead of drafting Love.

quote:Reggie destroyed the Cardinals in the playoffs almost single-handedly. Reggie and Pierre complemented each other nicely, neither was "more important". That said, there would have been no Super Bowl for the Saints if not for #2 draft pick Reggie Bush.
I may be misremembering but was the more important running back on the 09 team Reggie or undrafted Pierre Thomas?

Yes of course, why would teams want elite playmakers?
People show us every day how dumb they are….

Yes because Jalen Carter and not Bijan would make the difference for the Falcons…
Do y’all even hear yourselves? Do yall not hit preview on your posts to review and then say, hmmm, this seems dumb maybe I shouldn’t post?

Except for the fact Bijan/Saquon didn’t help the teams that drafted them win shite.

My philosophy is pretty simple, if you think he could be one of the top 5% of running backs in the league, which would make him truly the elite of the elite, then you take him. If you don’t think he can be that, then you don’t.

Oh, everyone else is dumb and not you he keeps posting about drafting a rb which is least valuable position in the league in the top 10. When history has repeatedly shown you that is a mistake. And yes, Carter would be a better addition to the falcons. Why? Because their backup rb offers similar value than Bijan. We’re all pretty confused how you’re this stupid to be honest.
And Carter was the best defensive player on a defense that led the eagles to a Super Bowl ring lol. My god, you’re incredible to converse with.

A 1200 yard back with double digit tds is only getting 8 million a year.
And only 1300 yards from scrimmage, the 15th most for a RB. By comparison Bijan had nearly 1k more. Look at the guys at the top of scrimmage yards - Bijan, CMC, Gibbs, Taylor - this is the type of back you’re getting in Love

I must be too stupid to understand the point of this thread

Bush was one of the greatest decoys ever. Teams would be so focused on stopping him that everyone else was wide open a lot of the time.

It’s hard for some to fathom that teams who routinely pick in the top 10 are just bad teams. Somehow that has been projected on the RBs and is the supposed reason not to draft them
Posted on 2/22/26 at 8:47 am to GynoSandberg
It's funny those adamant against picking a position in the top ten(does this include pic (11 or 12) mention the great players passed on in past drafts that led their teams to the Super Bowl. OK. Who are those in this year's draft if not Love?

Drafting RW wasn’t a problem. Trading an entire draft was. We wouldn’t do that here

Y’all were fine giving a similar purse to draft Olave. Now yall are going to push to pay him $35mil a year cause he had one year getting numbers on a bad teams. You can’t selectively be the asset police & use anecdotal draft situations to try and justify points.

Those 3 players will probably get paid much more than that, and they are all 5 years older, which is a lifetime in running back years.
The argument of "You cannot draft player X because you will have to pay him" can apply to every player you pick.
That’s not the argument. The argument is that high quality RBs are easily acquirable via FA.
