Elliss aint the same guy that left for the Falcons.
Not sure why people are concerned about him. We were never going to get another DD this year because there wasn't one out there, and he was getting older. It sucks to lose him but we were on the verge of moving on much sooner than later anyway, and we got one of best replacements we could that knows our team, knows the division, and has shown himself to be a great player.

You said Staley has kept them. Not sure why it’s a crazy question, but enjoy the nice day.

I would say, since Loomis specifically said he gets the coaches input on the players and wants to make sure they work out any issues, that the backend roster players we kept are players the coaches wanted, since it costs nothing to cut and replace them.
We used Stalbird a bit on defense and he is also a core special teamer, and that's with having Davis, Werner, Stutsman, and the edges all ahead of him last year. Ford was pretty much in the same boat, just behind Stalbird as well, yet he still got some snaps and was a core special teamer.
This year it's exactly the same, except subbing Davis with Ellis and Stutsman having a year under his belt.
There has been no signaling between the draft and FA that we felt LB was a priority (beyond replacing Davis with Ellis, of course), and at most we added an UDFA or 2, and a hybrid player that projects more to edge for us.

Gotcha. I only saw that he was a LBer, but it makes sense if he was OLBer/edge in a 3-4.

The one concern is our LBers are not the best in pass coverage… but they’re very good against the run.

We're good and Werner is fine. Stutsman can be a stud, Ellis is on that level, and Werner is very solid and a leader.

I am too. Saints have no one can cover TEs. They are not sideline to sideline runners. I hope our new secondary draft picks can cover those roles. Saints will be in mostly 1 LB in pass coverage downs.

Werner will be the 3rd LB that plays about 30% of the snaps. Stutsman and Elliss will be the starters.

If you insist on being concerned, I'd worry about the CB position.

You are correct. I should have added 'reason'.

No, it’s not. We need another draft class and more cap relief. I think they can make the playoffs with 9-10 wins but this isn’t a SB contender unless the young guys make monumental jumps.

Yeah, usually it takes three years to build a team the way the head coach envisions it.
There are outliers like New England recently. All of the other top teams in the AFC just shite the bed for whatever reason.
Then we all saw how far apart Seattle and New England were in the Super Bowl.
The Seattle GM usually does pretty well in drafts.

The Saints are trying to win this year. They will compete for a playoff spot and not get a super high draft pick like the last draft. The rebuild is over. Let's start thinking like a playoff contender.
It’s nice to be excited. But it’s also good to be realistic. You have Ruiz at RG, you have no pass rushing threat, you let your two most productive players on defense walk in Demario and Cam, you let a key defensive player in Taylor walk and your secondary doesn’t have a playmaker. And while we all like our young QB, he’s only played in a handfull of games and will have some growing pains. And the people we are excited about and relying upon are rookies that haven’t taken an NFL snap.
It’s good to be excited, but we are still in a rebuild.

People aren't grasping this. 13 months ago we had almost NOTHING

im concerend because you are concerned.

I'm very concerned about the LB position. Never been a fan of Werner & I feel like he could've been easily upgraded a couple years ago. Ellis could be a better than average player for us but I wish we could pull off a trade at that position. Stutsman is still unknown.

Agreed. NFC South & a last place schedule, why not? I believe we can be very competitive in the division and we are probably another quality FA period/Draft from being very competive in the conference. This is a big year for Shough & the OFF to continue to improve. Winning those 4th qtr, close game battles will be big this season.
