I agree. It would be hard to watch him on the sidelines knowing 5,000 is within reach. But it would be the prudent move to make.

agreed. we suck too bad to rest our starters…

disagree

I'd rest everyone. We need to be as fresh as possible. Let the other teams play a tough game potentially 6 games earlier.

Brees won't play in such a scenario

1) The team has nothing to gain and everything to lose by playing him the whole game

2 ) If Brees plays a series or 2 that would risk his current TD streak

I seriously doubt the Panthers lose to the Manziel-led Browns.

only rest starters that don't have contract incentives they could realistically fulfill.

If we clinch sunday, they may just let him play long enough to throw a td so it wouldn't ruin his streak. He currently has two over 5,000 yard seaons. One record may continue and one may not.

If he doesn't play the streak continues.

Playing starters if we clinch this week would be stupid. Rest up for the new season. We usually play well off byes.

Junior is already a little nicked and on a limited snap count...

The D as a whole can not afford to lose another starter especially in a meaningless game.

I would play the reserves...most of them could use the playing time...imagine Edebali getting a full game under his belt.

Some of those players can take that time and use it to make a case for postseason play...sort of like how preseason works as a game day audition to make the roster.

Offensively Toon could get a start and some much needed playing time and we could try to get some OL reps with our backups as well...

Playing time across the board for the reserves, much needed rest for the starters.

Our bye was over 10 weeks ago...
