this board kind of amazes me
Winston who's actually done things in the league "frick no we don't want him" will then turn around wanting Darnold who's career accomplishments are at about 0. His whole career, college and pros, has been "yeah he kind of sucks....but man he's got potential
I think the difference people are talking about mainly is price point. If Winston does not get playing time with us this year, the fans have zero more data on him, but he might get a bigger pay day from another team. Whereas Darnold might be available at a similar price point to what Winston is currently at. If Winston doesn't get anymore playing time, I don't see a team willing to offer him a big payday, so I could see us signing him to contract similar to what Indy signed Jacoby Brissett too which was 2yr/$30M to have him pretty much be the starter but us also either drafting a QB fairly high or getting a better veteran backup like Tyrod Taylor, Brissett, Rosen, Mariotta, Dalton

I don’t disagree with this at all and I’m not sure why there’s so many down votes. Truth is i think darnold is legit and you can name maybe 1-2 players that he’s had on that entire team during his tenure that is worth a damn. Nobody could survive as their qb. If you could get him for a 3rd or so then yeah do it.

One also has potential character issues while one does not. I think Payton can work with Darnold. That being said, we already have Winston for cheap so I'd still be interested in what we can do with him.

one has accomplished things on a football field not many QBs have, the other has not.
I get its easy to make Gase the scapegoat for Darnold's struggles but what potential has he shown you in actual football games that leads you to believe he's any good? Pretend his name is Gardener Minshew with a 6th round draft pedigree....are we having this discussion?

"Eat a W" deal
Come on, man! The kid has been a humble and a true pro from what everyone says since he's arrived. Good for him that he can poke fun at himself and enjoy a big win against his former team

The locker room loves him. We should get over it.

He's an adult who got fired from his last job. He should be humble.

Every one was enjoying themselves. He kept jumping in front of the camera with the eating the W deal. He did it when Drew was being interviewed. He did it in the locker room. It just seemed extremely immature.

Everyone keeps talking about Winston like he is under a 3 year deal. We have no idea what his camp is going to want especially if/when Brees has moved on.
Probably looking for a similar deal to Teddy and I'm not sure he is worth that. Of course they see him in practice everyday so they will know.

I actually am hoping to see him play a game or two if we lock up #1 seed or can’t improve our seeding the last game...
I can’t see us locking up the #1 seed with 2 games to go.
Even if we win our next 6. The Packers would have to go 3-3 with games against Jacksonville, Detroit, and both carolina and Philadelphia at home.
More likely to be a game back and locked up the #2 seed and then see Winston.

I think it showed the exact opposite. He poked fun at himself. Did you think he was being serious about that?
You havent heard a word about Jameis. that should show you he isnt the headcase you think he is and is fine learning.

The locker room loves the guy....have you watch the videos he is in the middle of the Defense. I think he will fit perfectly and will have Payton the right coach to keep him in check. My goodness he is one of 8 guys that has thrown for 5000 yards in NFL history...I repeat history...

Saints should consider getting Darnold from them.
As a free agent backup? Sure.

Darnold or Tua if one of them becomes available due to them drafting Trevor.
The Dolphins aren’t drafting Trevor.
