re: If Anthony Richardson plummets to #29, then do you want the Saints to take him?

Don't assume he is garbage just because Florida was garbage.
Besides, most of the mocks have him long gone well before 29.

Nah, I wouldn’t draft Richardson in the 7th rd to be completely honest unless he agreed to a position change. Dude is frickin garbage and not even close to being even a decent SEC QB, let alone an NFL QB.
This is the same shite as Willis last year. I told you guys he was a bum well before the draft and got a lot of pushback. Perhaps listen a bit this year.
It’s Bryce Young or bust. Basically no one else matters in this class.
I’d perhaps interview Hooker and see if I think he’s smart enough to QB a legitimate offense. Bc he has tools and intangibles. He just played in a whack arse offense in college and he’s old as hell. So I don’t necessarily want to take 3 years to develop an old QB. But if he’s bright upstairs, maybe he’s worth burning a 2nd or 3rd rd pick on.

If you're comfortable taking him in the 2nd you might as well take him and the potential 5th yr option at 29.
Exactly. I don’t like Richardson as a qb but taking him at the end of the first or ten picks into the 2nd isn’t a huge difference in a pretty weak draft where it’s going to be a ton of individual team preference after the top dozen or so picks anyway.
That 5th year definitely worth the small difference in picks for a qb. Especially with what salary qbs will be getting paid in another 4-5 years.

Right, which is why I said I’d not be interested in him.

I'm not a Richardson fan but I could be talked into taking him at 29. He's insane for the top 10 but a late 1st is different.

I think in the right spot he could be a very good player. But that is not here. Certainly not with Carmichael/the Payton offense, which is pretty much all just quick reads and accuracy. Not Richardson’s strong suit.
I would be willing if we had a new OC that ran a more modern offense like a lot of the NFL is now. There’s no reason for us to be running this stupid 10,000 play offense anymore when teams like the Eagles are getting crazy offensive production out of an OK QB who can run and only has max two reads on every play.

Draft Richardson and hire Dan mullen as OC

It's pretty obvious from this thread who watches college football and who doesn't.

Obviously if you draft AR, you're doing it on potential. Here's the career attempts by the big 4 qbs in this draft...
BY - 949
CS - 830
WL - 738
AR - 393
He doesn't have the experience the other 3 have, and he had to deal with a coaching change going into his first year starting. I think his year would've gone much better if mullen had been his coach; mullen qbs take big steps forward in year 3 under him

Haha everyone in this thread is right and every NFL GM is wrong. Richardson is being mocked in the top 10. If you have a shot at the next Lamar Jackson at 29 you take him.
Posted on 3/2/23 at 8:36 am to TigerphanTigerman
He’s nowhere near Lamar Jackson level lol. Lamar won the heisman and was slinging it. AR is and always has been terrible at throwing the ball.

Jackson never broke 60% comp or 150 passer rating. He was hardly a good passer in college.
Lamar's last game in college vs miss state in bowl game, he was 13/31 with 4 Ints.
ETA... career yds/rush:
Lamar 6.3
AR 6.9
I do think Lamar was a better passer coming out, but I think some of that was experience.

You mean rises to #29. He's not a second round pick.
Posted on 3/2/23 at 8:50 am to hambones
Honestly I think Hooker is a better QB of the two.

These "MOCK" drafts are not done by GM's. They are done by journalists, some of which have agendas and connections with agents. Last year all the mock drafts had Malik Willis going top 10, some even #1 overall. I promise you he is not going top 10 based on potential. Any scout or GM is going to watch the game film not just highlights and see he was extremely inconsistent and needs a couple years of development before he sees the field. I also don't see anything remotely that reminds me of Lamar Jackson in his game.

Absolutely not, have a feeling he is going to get the Malik Willis treatment.

If we draft Anthony fricking Richardson as our QB I'm officially done
Posted on 3/2/23 at 9:25 am to TwoDatBait
He has Carolina, Atlanta, or Raiders reach written all over him
