I do not think Kamara was ever back to 100% this season.

I think he rushed back with lingering ankle and/or knee issues that may not have been fully resolved and we never got the real AK. A full offseason should bring him back to speed.

Kamara was fine, we just used him incorrectly and tried to make him something that he was not.

It's the same thing Payton did with Reggie Bush.

They are not every down backs, the minute Payton committed them to that role, they got hurt.

Murray should have been the lead back and Kamara the change of pace back, like he was his rookie season.

nah, he was not the same this season. He was going down at first contact and running out of bounds early to avoid contact. That's not the same Kamara we are used to.....

I think it was fairly obvious that the burst was gone after the injury, and we all know he was best as a change-of-pace back.

He IS the kind of guy willing to play through injury and is not the kind of guy to complain. They might have allowed him to come back too quickly.

What are you talking about?
Bush was never an every down back here and he became one after he left and performed better than ever.

I don't think he was. He stopped breaking tackles & making people miss after the injury. Didn't have quite the burst either. He looked like a poor man's Kamara.

Kamara in the flat was covered every time and it was the only play Payton called for him....

Kamara played the entire season like he didn't give a flying frick about what happened. Payton always talks about his amazing football IQ, but the last drive for the Saints saw him stay in bounds, fall on his arse, push Jared Cook forward instead of down, and false start. If he is a football genius as described, he wouldn't have fricked up any of those that bad.

The ability to change speed and direction on a dime was his thing and nagging knee and ankle injuries may not have been enough to keep him on the bench but would not have to be major to take his edge that made him next level. In any event, we will see at the start of next year.

Sorry, but Brees snapping off at Kamara for going out of bounds with no one around him showed there had been some bubbling tension with him and the offense. Trade him for assets and move on.

He was fine at first, and I think he will be fine again after an offseason.... the guy who dragged a defender into the end zone by his jersey disappeared after the injury

I dont think Kamara is a stand alone back. He's extremely talented but part of that is because he was a compliment to another talented back.

Could injury play into that? sure, but when Ingram missed last season our run game wasnt spectacular

It was months ago, but everyone forgot that Kamara was just about the entire offense against Seattle.

Well then he shouldn't have been effing playing. Murray was even developing damn well as a pass catcher and was the more effective back

I disagree completely. We used him almost exactly how he has been used. He did not have the same burst, allusiveness, and tackle breaking ability this year that we have seen in years past.

He was either hurt or he was checked out mentally. I would bet on the former.

He has never consistently been a guy to give the ball to when everyone expected the run and we got run blitzed. He doesn't seem to be able to run through front 7 tackles the way I thought he could and the way he did against secondary players.

He is better as a sidekick or when he has the opportunity to catch the defense off guard.

See what assets AK might garner in a trade and make a decision based upon that. If you can get AK-rookie-season value, make the trade.

The problem is that the other 31 teams in the league also will take a look at AK's 2019 production and will offer trade assets based on THAT year.

Bottom line: ain't nobody giving the Saints full retail value for AK, so, this trade talk is probably moot.

I think it was a mental thing. Might not have anything to do with football. Payton said in his press conference today he was injured at the end of the year. There was something going on with him though.

I mean, I think it's fair to say he wasn't as efficient as the last few years, but part of me wonders if adding a viable #2 WR would fix that.

Teams started leaving a db/lb on him, specifically on him in man coverage to neutralize him. Part of that in my opinion is that you don't have multiple threats to have them change their scheme. You have cook, Thomas, and a #2WR line up that could all demand double coverage and it buys Kamara another 2-3 yards of space.
