How important are "Character" and "Morals" to you in a player?

We all know players with questionable morals or a less than stellar character, hell I'm sure we can all name a player to two that's been arrested (and likely rightfully so) for some things "not and accident". Drunk driving crash's, assaults', battery, domestic abuse, drugs, theft, murder, etc. some with gang affiliations/acquaintances, history of collage problems (cheating, sexual assaults', rape etc.)
At what point does a players personal character negate any/all of his physical talents on the field or court?
Is there a limit or if you're talented enough we don't care, just win baby?
We all know most GM's and owners have their limits (Some stricter than others but as fans do you have any limits? should you have any limits or should you be a fan of the team nonmatter what they do or who they sign?
If you have limits and your team signs someone that you feel is morally bankrupt or just al plain personal scum bag, do you feel like you compromise you own values by supporting someone or an organization that doesn't hold the same moral values as yourself?
A lot to unpack, I know. I'm just interested in how people feel about compromising any values they have for the sake of entertainment.

As it relates to unforgivable stuff like beating women or children, I'm not interested. Pretty disgusting those dudes are in the league.
For normal stuff like DUIs or the occasional assault, I'm more in the grey. I care how it affects the locker room and if the player has motivation and leadership..but I am more understanding in terms of them being on the team because no one is perfect and we all make mistakes

My values don't have to be the same as the NFL team I root for. I don't have any interaction with that person. If the owner, GM, and coaches can stomach it then fine by me. I have more of an issue of that person being a distraction and placing the team in some sort of bind due to contract or willingness to play in every game.

The most important ability is availability. Will the player's off-field actions keep him from being available to play the next week/season?
People make mistakes in life and should not be drug through the mud for something here & there. It becomes a problem when there is a pattern and/or when they cross into that DV & affecting children areas.
When I was younger, I did. Now that shite doesn't bother me. If I were to nit pick every company out there the way some people nit pick players on teams, my family would be naked, hungry, and have to walk (barefooted) everywhere

So now DUI’s is normal? Does it change for you if that DUI turns into vehicular homicide?
I realize everything affect ppl different…..to me there’s no reason to get behind the wheel drunk…especially in a city like N.O. Where you can call a ride.
I guess I’m all for given 2nd chances. Look at Mixon….pretty awful video coming out of college but seems like he’s turned his life around

It's just entertainment who cares about morals, just run or throw or tackle the guy so I can cheer and be happy the NFL let our team win something.

Pretty much this. Although, having high character guys or "pillar of the community" types does make a team more likable and help build the fanbase IMO. There's at least some intrinsic value to not being a team full of assholes

I love fans who can't separate their own beliefs & label a player as a cancer because they have different beliefs as a player. Yet these fans aren't in the locker room & they also fail to realize the player they are critical of is a team captain.

The league has shown repeatedly that it only cares about wins and losses. Why should I, as a fan, prioritize anything else?
If you want fans to care about morality, then the league needs to set the tone, from the top. Right now the tone is that bad behavior goes unpunished and morality is pointless. The league itself, and its teams even cheat openly.
Train your kids and yourself to hold high morals. But don’t expect the NFL to set the example for you. Turn elsewhere for that.

When they measure those at the combine I may take notice. Other than that its not something I hear or care about until they do something wrong. Then its a case by case issue for me.

I mean, I watch movies. You think any of those people have high morals or character? I'd bet the majority of famous people would literally stab me in the back if it got them more rich and famous. The sad reality is most people today aren't high on morals. So to answer your question: yes it matters to me, but I still will support the team I love because it's something I enjoy doing.

It's important. Players who get it trouble are unreliable and they definitely put your program in the spotlight in a bad way. I don't want someone to give Roger or his groupies a reason to come after us.

I could not give fewer f&%ks about a football player or coach's morals so long as those morals do not detract from their ability to play games or maintain a winning locker room culture.
Obviously, someone who is a serial rapist or murderer is a liability because they can't play NFL football from inside of a prison cell.
I also take issue with point shaving because it detracts from their ability to produce on the field. If they're purposefully trying to lose a game so that they can recieve a gambling payday, that really shortchanges the fans.
