2 punts, 37 and 35 yards. With the full field to work with. Not even trying his usual "down in the 20" crap where it's actually downed on the 18 after a 30 yard punt...cut him tommorow

Releasing Gillikin for this scrub was insane.

Coaches are some of the biggest idiots in franchise history.

He is on the cheap. They have to save money in it least 5-7 players in this roster because of insane future contracts pushing money into the future.

I know it doesn't seem like much bit with this FO saving 200k on a punter makes sense to them.

Hayball had 2 punts, 46 and 50 yards. Like a real punter

That's simply not true.

He's much worse than that.

I feel like there has to be at least 10 minimum contract punters out there better than this guy. He sucks.

I just don’t understand it. If I spent all day, every day, working on punting I’d be at least a decent punter.

ETA: Not by NFL standards. Just compared to Hedley. I could go to one of the local high schools and find a kid that can average 35 yards a punt.

Are you new to the Saints? Have you looked at their franchise history?

ETA: this is not an attempt to advocate for our current coaches just a reminder of how bad it was in the first few decades of this franchise.

We are probably going to go through Punter roulette for the next few years until we get our cap situation under control.

I get that, and it's totally fine by me. Sometimes you just gotta throw shite until it sticks. The problem is that we aren't throwing any shite yet. We're just holding the same steaming pile of crap in our hand like it's a delicacy. We all know this shite stinks. Everyone in the world can see this shite stinks, but yet here we are still holding it.

No sense in doing that.

Keep him around to not wear out Hayballs leg before the season starts. He's going to need to be as fresh as possible for the 24/25 season. He may set the record for punt in a season.

FYI

Chad Stanley(2002) and Bob Parsons(1981) are tied for the most punts in a season, with 114 punts.

Well week in and week out during camp he has kicked well. You didn't watch him the last 4 weeks?
Issue has been his kicking during games. I assume you watched those kicks. He may not make the team.

You wouldn't think it would be too hard to find a decent freaking punter. There are only 32 punters in the NFL. Why are we stuck with a 31 year old Aussie who has sucked since he walked into camp last year?
