Have coaches determined who or what’s holding back the Saints offense?

If not, can Saints coaches say how long such an investigation into the offense will take? Odd how the coaches of the LSU Tigers appear to be able to make such determinations quickly and Saints coaches can’t!

LSU just had there two worst seasons in two decades back to back and this season is far from over.
Statistically, the Saints offense is about as middle of the road as they come right now.

That lack of an offensive identity is the biggest issue. The playcalling screams “we have no idea who we want to be on offense.”
For example, we drove right down the field on the first drive against the Bucs by just taking what the defense gave us. But after the first drive they decided to start going deep. That isn’t on Winston. It’s on coaching staff.
Winston definitely made some mistakes and also had some inaccurate throws. But the bigger issue is a lack of an offensive identity.

Saints went an entire game not settling on any game plan, it’s insane.

Well they played defense like they wanted to win a 6-3 game. Their first drive also told us they were going to play a conservative game. DA said as much after the game.
But for some reason they completely threw that out after one drive. I really loved seeing Jameis check it down on that first drive. That’s always been a knock on him so it was a positive sign to see that. But then they decided to start going for shot plays that kept killing drives.

Jameis Winstons injured back.
He eschewed two or three easy 1st down runs (that he normally takes) on key plays in the Bucs game that stalled out promising drives.
Bad officiating and a gimpy Jameis cost us that game IMO.

This tells you that Pete is not a great game day coordinator. Anyone can scheme the first scripted plays based on the what you want to do. It takes talent to adjust your calls when the D starts to figure you out.

Agree - I really disliked the playcalling Sunday

I am sure they have. Are you expecting them to share what they believe to be their weaknesses with the rest of the league?

Talent at QB?
This is the same clunky offense that we had last year with CSP. Last in league in passing yards, 19th in scoring offense. Drew isn’t walking through that door

Ingram fumbling the ball when we were pounding them up the middle cost us that game… if we score on that drive Brady has to take more chances with horrible receivers and we can still bring Jameis along slowly…

Was his back injured all those years in Tampa?
He's a shitty QB and a shitty person, that's all.

Calling him a shitty person is pretty ignorant. He did some dumb shite when he was immature but the guy seems like a legitimately good human. Maybe you should reevaluate yourself.

You would assume a better play caller could get an improvement out of the 19th ranked offense simply by having several better receiving options and a QB who is not the definition of a journeyman.

This weekend will be a good gauge as to how well the Saints O can adapt. Watching other offenses around the league with the same or less talent than the Saints move the ball effectively has me worried. Browns w/ Brissett are a good comparison. Pete Carmichael has his work cut out for him.

Jameis's back and Alvin's ribs and whatever is hurting Michael Thomas on any particular day.

Are you asking for back when TB had the 5th, 18th, 9th, 3rd, & 3rd ranked offenses?
