Imagine getting an all-pro wide receiver and 10-year left tackle in the same draft. Two things can be true.

It's like Alabama. Be great every year and then land the best recruits.

Wonderful job by Loomis and company in evaluating the roster. Masterful.

And yet there are some here still defending Loomis and this massive blunder.

Only hope is we can win enough meaningless games to finish somewhere in the middle and make that pick in the 12-15 area.

Would take one of those + top 5 pick this year every time.

When saints get more players healthy, there is no way they will have a top 5 pick.

If we get a top 15 pick from a Payton trade none of this matters.

Then we can draft the other

I know they would most likely go QB with an early pick in 2023, it was just too easy of a set-up

Certainly possible. But right now we need a franchise QB.
The 10 year left tackle that is already injury prone and out for a year to start his career? Or that All-Pro WR that is also dinged up early in his career?

You wouldn't rather have a top 15 AND a top 5 pick? I'm not sure Saints will finish that low in the rankings, so I'm just playing within the OPs framework here. The point being that just because we MAY get a draft pick for Payton does not undo what we gave up for Olave or Penning.

This argument is so silly.

Payton picks + our top-10 pick > Payton picks alone

Still doesn’t equate to a chance at a franchise QB. Without one, we are fricked.

Our pick is currently #5

We're also tied with 7 other teams who are all 2-4. We are only the highest of them because our strength of schedule is the hardest. This will change as the season goes along

If we had one more win right now our pick would be #18

and say you use one of those picks for an all pro LT or WR.

then it's even from what we did last year.

Olave and/or Penning could be the top talent studs that you're looking for. Plenty of busts in the top 5 and 15 every year.

It's like some of you are just ignoring that Penning exists to make your bad point.

I mean how often is the first QB taken in the draft really the best one?

On the bright side, Saints 2nd rd pick will be at 35.

The Eagles are frauds. They might get a top 5 pick but they ain’t winning no Super Bowl. They are a product of that shite schedule. Their best win was Minnesota which ain’t saying much. That Vikings team is another fluke at 5-1. They beat Dallas with Cooper Rush adding a lot to that. The rest of their wins have a combined 7 victories. Their next 4 opponents(Pittsburgh, Houston, Washington, Indianapolis)have 8 wins. This season is so down especially in the NFC it’s unbelievable. They’ll make the playoffs, but I promise you Hurts will blow it when it matters the most.
