re: Does Juwan Johnson turn the corner this year?

He’s one of those guys that doesn’t pass the eye test. If you need a big third down or red zone play, he isn’t the guy. He’s a good garbage time stat padder, though

Juwan Johnson is as average as they get at the TE position.
I don't understand why anyone would think that our season is going to hinge on a mid level, at best (when healthy) TE.
My expectations are low. He makes his usual zero impact.

Another thing he isn’t being paid as a top tier tight end
He’s being paid over 10 million a year. You don’t think that’s elite pay for a tight end? Thats top 12 at his position. That’s more than our starting receivers combined, but ok.
Hell, Olave, Cooks and Shaheed together are making a tad over that amount for 2025. Think about that.

Lack of consistency. Was surprised at his contract. Maybe CKM sees something there.

This was the contract I probably understood the least this offseason

He’s just a guy…not great, not terrible. Average as hell.

I think our definitions of elite are different. There isn’t but maybe 5-7 tight ends truly worth a damn in this league imo! Theres a fairly large drop off after the first maybe 4. Of course he makes more than Shaheed and Olave. They’re on rookie contracts. I didn’t say his pay was warranted. I strictly said he isn’t truly a tight end that can’t be upgraded. He’s pretty mediocre.

Was he resigned after CKM came on board?

He is a TE3 on a good team

The QBs will lean on Moreau if anything. Bigger, tougher, good hands.

He had a good year last year I thought, considering the ol injuries, lack of receivers to help him, etc.

Probably not. He’s definitely over paid. His contract should be 1/2 or 2/3 at most of what it is.

He's got the measurables
How are his measurables any different than any other tight end in the league? They’re all about the same size

How many corners does he have to turn?

I would have never given him this contract. Loomis does a lot of stupid shite that I would never do.
And of course that’s why we gave the worse superbowl odds in the league.

He will have to turn at least three maybe four corners
Posted on 6/9/25 at 6:27 pm to ThreeYYYz
If he could stay on the field and get plays schemed for his attributes, yes.
