Treadwell could legitimately go
3.San Diego(Keenan Allen is in a contract year and their season was officially over when he went down)
4.Dallas(Dez injury) if unsure about recovery or wanting a better WR Tandem
6.Ravens(Smith heir) unsure about Perriman
7.San Fran
9.Tampa
11Chicago(if Alshon leaves)
or a WR needy team could trade up like
16.Detroit
I will not worry till we are on the clock and he is still on the board.

It's been a busy year, so I don't know much about the players in this draft yet. I do know that a few of the "experts" are saying that the DL is the strongest in many years with 1st round type guys being available in Rds 2-3.
If this is the case, then I believe we go BPA at some other position. WR, OG, S, CB, OLB, TE are all need spots. Unless there's an all-world DL at 12, I would go with one of these other positions first.
Then again, our DL needs 2 players, so why not got DL 2 out of the first 3 rounds? Since it is this strong, let's solidify the line.

Jaylon Smith isn't a pass rush specialist, but I'd take him where we are in a heartbeat. I think we will continue to play more a 4-3, I'd rather get a OLB who can cover, have an elite athlete at the postition who can stay on the field with Anthony when we go to Nickle packages, which is almost our base anyway

Myles Jack is a dream if we want a pass coverage linebacker.

He is, but he will remain a dream unless we trade up for him. The only reason we have a shot at Smith is because of his injury. This is the reason why I'm pissed we finished the season well, we would have been better off losing the games at the end of the season once we were out of the playoffs.
Except the Falcons. Fook the Falcons

Most rational fans would be fine with him at 12
I do not think people are irrational for not wanting to draft him. I think most people get that he is the best WR in the draft. I believe most fans understand the difference in wins between this team with Treadwell vs this team without Treadwell is minimal compared to what an impact defensive player from the 1st round can add to this team.
Honestly the Saints can add either Sanu or Marvin Jones from Cincy and probably expect either to come in here and start while producing no.2 numbers for our team. This offense is top 5 already because Drew is simply that good and makes everyone better than what they are. Drew is actually at his best without a true no.1 receiver IMO because he spreads the ball to everyone. It makes the offense unpredictable.
The Saints are more efficient when Drew is not zeroing in on a Jimmy Graham type every single game.
Meanwhile look at any defense in the league...not even Denver...any average defense and you will see quickly why we set an NFL record for most TD passes given up. Our Secondary on paper is a top 10 unit...Our DL might be the worst in the NFL.

I'd love the Saints to be able to find a DT that can disrupt the pocket. Get in there and throw the timing off or screw with rhythm. The Saints let far too many below average QB's destroy them in the passing game.

We talk about it every year, but this year seems an ideal time to move back and pick up a 3rd or 2nd, even if it means missing out on Treadwell or Smith.
Assuming our #1 need, which I think many can agree on, is DT. At 12, we miss out on Buckner, but there are so many other comparable 1st round DTs that having the pick of the litter may or may not matter at 12 compared to say 22.
I say 22 because that is where the lovely QB-less Houston Texans are. At 12, if a guy like Lynch is available (I say that because Goff is probably the 2nd overall pick) and Houston is afraid another QB-needy team like the Eagles (13) or Rams (15) may take him and he's there guy, I think they would give up a pick to move up.
According to the "draft value" chart, our 12th values at 1200, their 22 values at 780, and their 2nd rounder (52nd) values at 380.

Gotta have that disruptive interior guy for sure
While the draft is deep at DT, there is a bit of a gap from the top guys to the 15th best guy
Watch Rankins after this combine. He's what the saints need but he's going to shoot up draft boards

Those bastards better give a 6th rounder or so as well.

Kiper stated he had 25 defensive line prospects with first or second round grades.
Todd said he had 16 defensive tackles ranked in his Top 100 overall.
But if an Aaron Donald is at the top of that group and the back half of that is good/decent rotational guys, go get Aaron Donald.

Yup. Being deep is no reason to pass on anyone that you like. It just means you have more chances to over haul your d-line and that's what we badly need.
If a stud is on your board when its your pick you grab him period.

Saints will trade down. Book it. Cause one year I will be proved right and become almost partly famous in very small circles.

we're never going to trade down.
It is like bigfoot, a myth.

Can we even be remotely active in free agency this year? There are a hand full of decent ends available that could affect the way we draft. Who knows, but the depth of this DL draft could keep FA prices relatively low.

Danny Shelton and Star were obvious takes IMO the years they came out and I openly wanted both. I do not want a DT in this draft at 12.
Everybody seemed to have a hard-on for Shelton last year and were angry we just missed out on him. I never got it and didn't like him. Many fans ridiculed the Peat pick, but how many would still take Shelton over Peat?

Shelton was praised all season by Cleveland coaches. He was solid for them. The rest of the team sucked so it gets lost in the muk of Browns football. If we are only comparing rookie years I think Shelton was better. However Peat's arrow is pointing up and most calmed on the pick when Strief's play declined like Enron.

Coaching staff isnt going to crap on their 1st rounder. The Browns were 30 against the run and Shelton had no sacks and few pressures. I think Peat was better and showed more promise. In my mind Peat was always the better pick as it was obvious Strief was going to need replacing. Maybe something clicks for Shelton and he becomes the player people thought, but I don't see him being anything better than a decent two down DT.
People kept comparing him to Ngata, but Nagata was longer, better built, and much more athletic.

A player like Shelton shouldn't actually post many stats...he is an anchor. He is suppose to absorb double teams and allow your other LB's and DL members to either go unblocked or left in 1 on 1 situations. Most of the rushing success had against the Browns were not against Shelton because teams ran away from his gaps

The reason people would have loved to have him here especially in hindsight is someone like that eating blocks for Kikaha, Jordan, and Anthony allows for free roaming and gap shooting. With our D he would have been a good fit...again Cleveland is just a dumpster fire of an organization.

Asked if Shelton is drawing the number of double-teams he expected, O’Neil was emphatic in his support for the rookie nose tackle. The edge, not the middle, is where Cleveland is getting beat. “We’re not getting hit in the middle, guys,” O’Neil said. “Those big runs aren’t coming through the A gap.”

But since Week 9, Shelton has earned ProFootballFocus.com’s second-best run defense grade among rookie interior linemen. Despite the defense’s ongoing issues, he received another positive review from the analytics website for his performance Sunday in a 30-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He posted a career-high seven tackles, including one for loss.
