Evidence?
I take it that you believe that Adam Schefter made that up? Or is it that you just don't want to believe it?

The Saints fricked up. That's the story. They told the boss to frick off, and they got spanked. Why is this Goodell's fault?

How much jail time will the saints be serving?

Given the obvious answer to that question, why would you call the two "equivalent?"

Do we get cap relief for suspended players?

From what I understand, the cap hit is prorated. The players do not get paid during their suspensions and they are technically not even on the roster.

What I am interested to see is how the appeals work. If I am not mistaken, because the players are under a collectively bargained agreement, unlike coaches and management, their appeals are heard by a board, not Goodell. If I remember correctly, Art Shell is on the appeals board. It could be interesting if an appeal goes to them.

Nothing. Never said he did. I'm just saying based on the NFL report and Goodell's recent actions that I expected Vilma to be out for the season. It doesn't surprise me. Is it harsh? Totally.

Yes or no--do you think he made Goodell's bounty warning up?

He's out for 4 games.

Does that mean we get 1/4 of his yearly cap hit back?
I think so. However, we just restructured both of their contracts, so the base pay reduction will be minimal for Smith. His base is down to $825,000, so 4 games would only be about $200k. Vilma is due $1.6 million base and $600k roster bonus. So, theoretically, the suspensions could save us up to $2.4 million in cap room.

Yes. With Vilma out the year, we are off the hook for his base salary and roster bonus ($1.6m base + $600k roster bonus). Same with 1/4th of Smith's base salary, but I don't know what he redid his to.

OK, look you frick tard, I'll type slowly so that you can understand it.

No one is blaming Goodell. What is going on, just like with Payton, is that people (rightfully so) believe that Goodell is overly harsh with the penalties.

No one is saying that the Saints should not be punished. Rather, we're saying that the punishment should fit the crime.

He hasn't released the info to the NFLPA. Is it none of their business as well?

I'm speaking to his cred. Once you lose that it will always be a hit against you. Just like what is happening to the Saints.

_*just heard that the players are screwed on the appeals, they are have to appeal to Goodell, collective barg agreement, can't go to court. Goodell did not give up the appeals clause in the last bargaining session-*

Stallworth was suspended for a season by the league--AFTER his jail time was served.

Vilma, who served no jail time, is suspended by the league for a year for ALLEGEDLY putting up $10K on Favre.

Same punishment FROM THE LEAGUE for DRASTICALLY different crimes.

Albert Haynesworth ACTUALLY stepped on a player's unprotected head, and got much less from Goodell. Again, his punishments are inconsistent and draconian.

THAT is the beef here, not that there are punishments.

The two guys we all knew were going to get hit were. Smith with 4 games sounds about right. Was expecting about 8 for Vilma, a season suspension is ridiculous. Loomis has stacked up the LB core, and we already know what it was like playing without Smith for games. We will be fine, and I am glad all of this is over.
Let's get Drew signed and do this shite.
