It’s my understanding that he forfeited his remaining salary when he retired and all that is left is dead cap space for the Saints and that’s the $36.7 million number.

No. He may have a dead cap but, but he is not being paid a dime in 2026 by the Saints.

Go to over the cap. Search for Carr, or click on Carr under Saints dead money. They’ll bring you to his contract history page. He has not received any cash since 2024.

He voluntarily retired, he’s not getting paid any of the guarantees. It’s dead cap money on the Saints Roster. The only way he would get his guaranteed money was to be active, even if riding the bench and even if her were cut by the Saints. However, he retired, so none of that applies.
