quote:

DA on elite young players on WWL radio: "I think we have some good young players. I don't know that we have any great young players, or at least we're not in that position at least yet. I think we still got some young guys that are developing that we hope can continue to get better and improve.

"I think that's a valid question and a fair question. And I think this: I think you can win a lot of games with a lot of good players. You don't have to have a ton of what people might consider great players. You need tough, smart, competitive football players that play the game the right way.

"I do think we have some of those guys. And then some of these other young guys -- like rookies and second-year players -- we're finding out about."

When you are already losing the locker room, do you really say this out loud?

Depends what you mean by this. Do we have any that will be All Pro for 2024, absolutely not. But Demario was 1st team AP in 2019, Cam in 2017, JT Gray in 2021, Shaheed in 2023

I cannot find a quick list of 2nd team AP, but I assume it would only be a mix of the above.

*Technically still have Ram on the roster, he was AP in 2019. And while not on the roster, but still included on the cap MT was in 2018 & 2019

Fuaga
Kool-Aid
Shaheed
Bresee?
Penning I guess?

Maybe you should draft elite players when they present themselves, especially at positions of need.. Brian Branch was available and we took the ghost of Isiah Foskey instead. Foskey cant see the field on a bad dline and Brian Branch is a young superstar since day 1. Huge whiff.

So Dennis Allen is taking shots at the Loomis and Ireland?

Pretty much tells us that this is Allen’s last year in NOLA.

He’s posturing to blame the main culprit, Mickey Loomis. He’ll be gone in two weeks.

DA is right the Saints don`t have any young great players and he`s
throwing Mickey under the bus.Good for him. It`s MLs job to get said
talent and has failed.DA knows his arse is on the line and Vince Lombardi
couldn`t win with this team.He also knows that he will be the scapegoat
at the end of the day when in reality it`s on managements failure to do their job. I`m not a huge Tom Benson fan, because of the San Antonio mess,
but he knew a bad product when he saw it and made changes.Gayle doesn`t
have a clue about football and is totally dependent on ML for decision making and he is just coasting and has gotten arrogant and condescending to the
press and the fans and DGAF what anybody thinks.

We will lose to Carolina once the players in the locker room read this.

At least with the good young players, you have cheaper contracts against the cap.

The problem is exuberant contracts to aging and washed veterans. This prevents holding on to young players with great potential.

No cap space prevents the team from acquiring a sprinkling of free agent talented veterans to mesh with the younger good players.

The GM created the mess, not the young players with potential.

Like I said, I didn’t think we had any players that are all pros now.

I was just giving out information because was not 100% sure what the poster was asking. But, you can't call out Cam because it was in 2017 and not touch Demario from 2019. Both were before the average length of an NFL career (sitting at 3.3 years). Hell 3 of the 4 were before DA was the HC

I saw even at the time moves like Andrus Peat and keeping Davenport while letting Hendrickson walk would be killer.

That's because the Saints have wasted/misused their draft capital for the last 7 years.

Marcus Davenport (2 1st round picks)
Payton Turner
Isiah Foskey
Kendre Miller
Trequan Smith
Rick Leonard
Ian Book

All of those guys were rounds 1-4

I think it goes without saying if he loses this week after 7 loses in a row he will be fired. But expecting a win and going .500 rest of the year will get him to the end and then dumped. I see no way he is retained for next year. Ticket sales would crater.
