It comes down to Payton being unwilling to bench Brees during his swan song.

It’s easy to look for excuses and equate the loss to Drew’s arm but we all know Jared cook is the reason we lost that game. It’s Wednesday and it still sucks. Also I saw Balldinger breaking down footage on Twitter and we missed AK quite a few times. We very easily could have and should have blown them out. Turnovers kept them in the game.

He probably shouldn't have been playing but in reality most QBs are playing with injuries at this point in the season and no coach is going to outright bench their future hall of fame QB unless they're on season ending IR with a blown out knee or their performance is literally costing them games, which wasn't the case with Brees during the regular season.

Correct. You don't lose the turnover battle -4 and win in the NFL often.

Settling for 3 after 1st and goal from the 8 on the first drive told me the Offense was back on their playoff shite and it wouldn't be a pretty game.

Could be... If Cook doesn't fumble they likely go up by 10 (possibly 14) with a few minutes left in the 3rd. The 4th would have played a lot differently in a 23-13 game vs a 20-20 game.

Good chance we're in the NFC title game and morons on the internet aren't telling us all how "selfish" Brees is.

It definitely turned the game a complete 180 degrees, no doubt.

But, the game was only soon to be tied following Cook's fumble. It was from that moment on that Brees gave us basically no chance from what I saw.

Honestly we shouldn’t have been playing a QB with a torn rotator cuff.

I agree. When I heard this on OTB my first thought was "why didn't JW play then?"

He'd have given us a better chance to win.

nope....shades of aaron brooks there. I appreciate him trying and all but at some point he should have just been shelved by the staff.

knowing this makes last week easier, we would have had no shot in GB with Brees in that kind of shape.

and to all the people that say how much he did for the city of NOLA... Well, that sure didn't keep them from coming out in the streets and screaming "F" Drew Brees when he said that he would stand for the flag.

He’s never said that he wouldn’t stand for the flag. He also repeated that fact multiple times

And you idiots are doing the exact same thing to him and failing to see the hypocrisy of it.

The only people who have a problem with Brees today are brain dead idiots who let politics control every aspect of their lives. Grow up

Funny how all the good work that he did for New Orleans just got tossed out the window for some reason huh?

Right? Look in the mirror

I’m not here to help up for cook cause it was a bad turnover but it’s hard for me to say we lost cause of his fumble when we had four turnovers in the game if that was the only turnover the offense had all game yes I can see why ppl would say that’s why we lost the game but we had 4 turnovers it’s hard to win any game I don’t care who you playing when your offense keep turning the ball over in your own territory smh

The Cook fumble caused us to have to throw the ball more, leading to 2 more INTs. We probably don’t turn the ball over 3 times if Cook doesn’t fumble

It was a big reason.

20-13 with a fresh set of downs into their territory. Tampa likely doesn’t get the ball back until right around the start of the 4th quarter down 2 scores. D gets to pin their ears back

Sure every turnover was costly, but that is the biggest turning point in the game. Let Tampa off the hook when all the pressure would have been on their passing game.

Yea has to be trolls at this point who keep saying that. Brees is fine. I didn’t care for the 3-4 or however many apologies but I (like I really matter)have no issues at all with Brees and how he went out.

We had already overcome the first one and were in great position to make it a 2 score game going into the 4th. The other turnovers likely don’t happen without the fumble and we may have caused a few of our own

But way to miss the entire point of my original post anyways.

Right, that's all I'm saying. Brees played like arse, but I think it probably still would have been good enough without that play. We would have been running clock and Brady would have been the one having to push the ball down the field.

Might have still loss but we would have had a way better shot to win.
