Useless trivia for today:

While he was a pitcher with the Atlanta Braves, House was part of the crew in Atlanta's bullpen when Hank Aaron hit his 715th HR. Aaron's HR flew into the bullpen area, where House caught it on the fly and brought it to Aaron.

It appears they're already hard at work.

Don’t forget about Sanders. Guys got some wheels to catch those deep passes.

I'm hoping Deonte Harris is turned loose for some more go routes

Those numbers coincide with being behind and/or in shootouts with bad defenses (especially from 2014-2017) More deep attempts because u have to....like Brees said, there’s a risk/reward. If u don’t have to take the risk, why take it? Not saying there has been zero decline, but it’s overblown.

...also coincides with the departure of Cooks—our last true deep threat.

Maybe he should apologize more. That'll definitely help.

In all seriousness...

He's 41 and had a MAJOR shoulder reconstruction right before he came to the Saints. shite, QBs that have never had the injury and surgery he had wind down on distance and zip long before their 40s.

The doctor that performed that surgery performed a miracle, but it's clear Brees is way past the warranty period.

Yep. It was obvious to me that Brees' deep ball was subpar for the last 2 years, but some people got pissed off if you even mentioned it.

The decline in deep ball arm strength actually started 3 years ago. The amount of denial from so many fans & posters on this site was ridiculous if you even brought it up.

41 year olds don't just magically regain arm strength. There's a reason it declined in the first place.

Can Nolan Ryan put in a few months of training and throw 101 again?

His arm has been declining b/c of his age

And the fact he has a surgically repaired right throwing shoulder as well.

I don't think he can regain the full arm strength he had at 21 at 41 but I do think it's possible to recoup some of that back with the training he has been doing this offseason. With how thorough & prepared Brees is, I'm shocked it took him this long to address his declining arm strength with a different offseason training regime.

Mahomes is so effective because he can throw deep off of a 3 or 5 step drop and has multiple track stars at receiver.

Ok. So Brees is about 15 years older than that once in a generation naturally athletic QB. You provided invaluable information here.

Drew’s trainer Todd Durkin has been putting him though heavy leg works outs as well

Tom House said he’s added MPH to his throws from when he started his training. Can you add velo without increasing “arm strength” (a lot throwing power is generated from the lower half)
