As much as I'd hate to see it, Carmichael deserves a chance

As much as I’d hate to see him leave the Saints I think Pete Carmichael deserves as hot at a Head Coaching job. I think Cleveland would be a good sport despite their incompetence as of late. Hear me out: Carmichael has a good offensive mind, and the Saints staff really liked Baker Mayfield a lot and even looked at trading up to get him. The Browns offense has a lot of talent in skill positions. Landry is a really good WR, Callaway is a young trending WR, Njoku is a TE with a lot of potential but lacks a solid work ethic (as seen on Hard Knocks) and Nick Chubb is another young trending talent. Defensively if he can get a solid Defensive Coordinator he could really bring this team around. The talent on Defense in Cleveland is insane. Myles Garrett is going to be an ELite D End in a year or 2 and Emmanuel Ogbah is a good pass rusher as well. Jamie Collins is a good Vet LB. The secondary has Denzel Ward and TJ Carrie who are both very good corners and Jabril Peppers who is a tremendous athlete who could end up being a Pro Bowl Safety. The Browns have a lot of Cap Room as well. I think it'd be a good fit.

Carmichael does not seem to have the temperament of a head coach IMO...looks like he is more comfortable in the shadows than out in front.

He has interviewed for HC jobs in the past though

Carmichael called the plays most of the year after Sean broke is leg in 2011. That was one of the best offenses of all time.

And out who's playbook and offense?

I think it would serve Carmichael well, if he has HC aspirations, to be an OC somewhere else first.

If Carcmichael was just a QB coach who didn't know or do anything, the Saints woulndn't be paying him like a full fledged offensive coordinator.

Yes salary in the nfl proves worth. Exactly why gruden makes 9 million. And this is the same staff who kept greg mcmahon and joe vitt employed for a decade. Listen Im sure pete knows offense obviously but Payton calls and draws up the plays. Pete I'm sure has a role in preping some plays and gameplan each week. But as a whole this is Sean's offense.

I think he has interviewed before.

I just can’t see him being HC, but you never know...

Agree on being a good fit in Cleveland with Baker

I agree with this. He doesn't seem to have that Alpha quality.

If it hasn't happened by now, it isn't likely to happen.

I have thought about the pete Carmichael to Cleveland connection this week.

But my thoughts were it'd have to be as the offensive coordinator role there. He'd have to prove himself outside of Payton and then that would be his possible stepping stone to a coaching job.

The Browns don't care if you've proven yourself.
