Should the saints rebuild by trading the big dogs for picks?
Kamara
Jordan
Davis
Thomas
Williams
Lattimore

I say this that you could draft players and have some rookie contracts to help offset the money they spent on Carr

The saints are about to and should enter a complete rebuild and just realize we need to become the Lions and what they did

Spend some time messing around with OTC or spotrac and check out how these deals are structured. The team cannot afford to trade/cut any of their big named players

Almost all of these contracts are backloaded with guaranteed money/dead cap. The only ones with value are probably Kamara and Lattimore. From what I read the absolute earliest the Saints can get out from under Carr's contract is 2026.

All of this for one NFC Conference Championship appearance. Buccs got a Lombardi trophy with a reject coach and a free agent QB on his last leg.

The Saints organization is a joke. "Win now mode" yet they won nothing.

I don’t want to trade Jordan. Let him retire a Saint if he wants.
Kamara is still productive. Would hate to lose Davis. Unfortunately, those two would likely bring the most in return.

Trade Lattimore
Trade Kamara
Maybe Jordan can do a contract favor so he can go play with a winner.

They had the best record in the NFL over a 4 year stretch. You can not fault the front office for losing in the playoffs those years.

No. Talent isn't the issue with this team. QB play and coaching is. We should be a true contender, but unfortunately we are stuck with garbage at those critical spots while the rest of this talented team is wasted.

It’s not necessarily the trading players, but dumping salary that’s the problem with the way we structure. You trade a player that has that backloaded deal, whatever guaranteed money you have spread out immediately comes due. You then now have to get a team to take on that guaranteed money from you, meaning your negotiating power is reduced.

In other words, Kamara may be worth a 2nd round pick or some package of picks. But a team wanting him has to agree to take on that guaranteed money before restructure to fit their salary cap situation. Even if a team has unlimited space, they would find a way to reduce the asking price to as little as possible to take on the contract. So a practical Kamara trade may only be for a 5th this year and a 3rd next.

That’s the situation with a lot of our contacts and why we can’t just trade players like it is Madden.

We should be dumping the low money contracts for future picks.

Bresee could get us a future 1st

Alonte and Olave are worth a 2nd or 3rd

Miller is worth something. Saunders maybe.

Saints suck and will continue to suck for a few years. Embrace that fact and look ahead three years as a starting point for a future rebuild.

Time to:

1) Fire sale what we can for picks. At the 24 and 25 drafts, trade all our picks for higher future picks.

2) Stop hiring free agents who cost more than the minimum. No long term contracts. Focus on paying off all the debt ASAP.

3) Hire the cheapest and worst o line possible and let Carr get hit over and over and over. Couple that with $3 beer and I'll renew my tickets.

4) Look to 2026-27 as the rebuild. We could have a few nice 1st round picks in 2026 and 2027 and lots of money to spend.

5) Let DA ride out his contract and lose. He knows how to do that. Flash all our picks and cap space in 2026 to available coaches and get the best one available.

If the trade partner has a bad contract or an expiring unvaluable player you can take that deal back to offset the trade in terms of cap and protect the trade value

No team is going to pinch pennies if we made Lattimore available. A prime aged and elite CB is hard to come by and will come at a premium

Kamara you would get shortchanged if you weren't patient. He is still in his prime and has a very elite skillset that is rare at his position. Someone would be willing to pay but you would have to see how the draft was unfolding or how injuries next season played out to find your buyer

As far as everyone else on our roster...it will be tough

Cam isn't going anywhere...with his current play, age, and contract he is unmovable

Thomas is an expiring. His best season in years was this year and he never had a game with multiple TDs or anything close to 100 yards and he has a significant injury again...best hope for compensation will be someone in FA giving him another chance and hoping it's enough to get us a comp pick back

As far as other players with trade value that make sense for us...I'm not seeing a lot out there for us

Olave if he continues like he has this year into next year could be moved in year 4 of his deal with a good return. Very talented player that someone would want

Adebo or Taylor assuming our cap situation says you won't be able to keep both...makes sense to trade one before they can hit FA

No one on the OL has good trade value due to play/falling off or a good cap for us to move

Saints are just in a bad way. This team was built and contrstructed for the only purpose being able to compete. Loomis didn't set this thing up to have an abort button.

It is eye opening when you do this. The worst part is the Saints were roughly due to shed a lot of the "win now" deals like that in the next 1-2 years but I think that can has gotten kicked down the road a gain for a few.

Not many of those players have value in a trade. If we could unload Kamara, it may be possible. Lattimore has a lot of value. The rest, probably minimal if any.

Mickey Loomis prevents this.
