No. There were times when you just pulled for a first down or just getting passed the fifty yard line. You celebrated when you didn’t get shut out.
You enjoyed a kickoff because it seemed like your only way to score.
When you did have a semblance of an offense, your defense gave up multiple heart wrenching Hail Marys to lose games.
The Saints were the longtime laughing stock of the league that every team wanted on its schedule.
It was the worst of times followed by the worst of times.

But it makes you wonder why Sean Payton really left.
Depleted and aging roster, and a 2-3 year cap nightmare.
Saints are 5 years from being competitive, and that’s if they start now.
Payton knew it, and also knew no single coach could survive it.

Were you alive in 1980?

Benson had 1 foot out the door to San Antonio while people were rebuilding their lives and the city.
This too shall pass.

Can you point to 5 year rebuilds that you’ve seen around the nfl? Thanks

Someone was born after the Ditka years and the 2 Billy Joes.

Holy shite, how old are you? If you think Gayle is a bad owner you don’t know what bad looks like. We hired an astronaut once with no football experience to be our GM. The best part is he lasted like 4 years!

There is more to it than the final record, but when the final record doesn't even crack the bottom 10 in the teams' history then you are not at the lowest point in team history. Hell, the first 10 or so years of the team's history 5 wins would have been one of the better years

Dude, there have been sooo many more bad and more embarrasing times than right now. In the 1980 season, the saints were the worst team in the league and it wasnt even close. In fact, it was so embarrasing that fans started wearing the paper bag over the head for the first time. Yeah, that trend started in New Orleans just like a whole lot more cultural trends that get started in this country.

I mean there was a point in time when we had 2 Billy Joes as our QB, and thought signing Steve Walsh was amazing.

I remember those days; it was right around when I started becoming a fan. How did I get roped into this shite???

I was a kid when Walsh became our QB. I watched younger but can't remember any details other than cha-ching.
I was a teen in the Billy Joe era.
*ETA: even then, that era was in no way the worst. That pre-dates me as a living being

I watched every game during the 1-15 season. Were some really really hard times up until the Jim Mora era started and even when his era ended. Boy have my interest in the Saints dropped way off!
Things started going downhill the last few years with Payton and boy oh boy!

This.
This isn't the lowest point for the Saints in regards to wins and loses However, in regards to fan apathy and hopelessness, I do believe this is the lowest point. .

I couldn't agree more and to me this is the worst part of it all. Even during those hard times, Saints fans still were optimistic and hopeful. Until something is done with Loomis and even Gayle Benson as the owner, I don't think things will get better. The only way to make something happen is for Saints fans to stop showing up! That's the only way the message will be received.

We took the Coach we could boss around, and didnt request to dump Mickey like the others. We suck. Even if he is a good coach, if your personnel dept suks, you suk

"We’ll hire Kellen Moore within the next few weeks and you’ll forget you made this thread by March"
I very much hope this is so.
