Are we at the end of the TreQuan Smith era?

Have we finally reached the promised land?
Full disclosure, I called him Baby Moss when we drafted him. But I’ve been sick of his shite for years now.
Olave, Thomas, Shaheed, Perry are locks. Shaq Davis making a push. Kirk Merritt still around and not hurt, unlike Smith. Is this the year we stop pretending to give a frick about his blocking ability?

If Mike stays healthy and is at 80% capacity relative to 2019 I am prepared to be very happy with our WR room. Olave is just a natural chain-moving WR2. Shaheed and Perry bring the field stretching aspect in 3/4 WR sets. I have my worries about some other parts of the offense though.
Anyway, the time to move on from TreQuan was a few years ago IMO.

Hopefully. He never should have made the roster for so many years. He’s very mediocre.

It really puts it into perspective of how poor this franchise is historically when you realize that Tre’Quan Smith is a top 20 receiver in franchise history.

He’s a great run-blocker and tries really hard at it unlike other receivers. He also knows the playbook and system.

I won't say anything like that because I don't hate the guy or anything. But he definitely is not dependable in terms of making big or tough catches, nor staying healthy. He is a good blocker, but again he's never available. After being hurt basically all training camp and not yet playing in a preseason game I don't know how he would make the roster.
My concern right now is Rashid Shaheed, we have not seen him in a preseason game because he's been hurt and has not practiced in a few weeks from what I remember reading. How long is he going to be out for, is he going to be ready week 1?
Top 5 at this point to me would be
Michael Thomas / Chris Olave / Rashid Shaheed / AT Perry. Keith Kirkwood is a bit of an enigma, good size, good blocker, knows the system and quietly had a good camp then goes out with starters preseason wk1 and catches TD pass on first drive. Then he was in the group of starters/vets that we held out of the Chargers game that suggests he is basically a lock to make the team. Then a toss up between Shaq Davis and Jontre Kirklin. Davis is showing to be the better receiver after making a few strong handed catches while getting hit. Kirklin also looks to be a capable receiver and also would figure to contribute heavily on STs as a returner and kick and punt coverage

Probably not. He's a great blocker and if you can do one thing great in the NFL, then you have a roster spot.
But I totally get what you're saying. There's a few players where I'm ready for the era to end. Peat being at the top of the list. Davenport last year.

The blocking point was kind of a joke, but still. He ain’t shite as a WR and doesn’t play special teams. No reason for him to be on the team, we have like 4 tight ends now, let them block.

I know they like his blocking ability but I would rather move on from him and keep the rookies, Perry and Davis.
