Well the Saints wanted to promote her as this boss babe female NFL executive, and the NFL media ate that up. It was a win-win for both sides. But then everyone seemed to realize she wasn't what the PR said she was, so everyone kind of backed away. That's why Benson and the Saints weren't crucified when they cut her off. It was better for everyone to keep this local rumors than let it really spill out nationally.

I think a little more simple than that Slo. I mean who else did he have to leave it to?
He gave her a shot and she blew it.

Probably all those feel good stories about her were BS or a fraud.

She probably had a PR team handle all that for her.

Lol! Talked with a former employee of the Saints and Rita was widely despised by her staff and the other executives in the organization. He was on Benson's yacht several times and Rita was doing lots of drugs and doing some serious carpet munching with Helena Moreno. All in all Rita was a very screwed up, spoiled brat who blew ( pun intended) her opportunity to run a NFL franchise.

Moreno runs for mayor (she and or J.P. Morrell definitely will in the next election), it’d be great to see her get destroyed

So u were one of those bitching about Mitch, so we end up with a Latoya.

Moreno is worse than Latoya.

She’s another Mitch.

Latoya is just stupid.

I’d rather another 4 years of Latoya instead of Helena Moreno.

but there was serious manipulation on the Gayle side as well.

This is the part that always gets left out. So Rita was a frick up apparently. But, she was being groomed to run everything, then Gayle comes along, and suddenly this senile old man is giving everything to his new wife and feuding with his family? And the wife who married Tom when he was in his 70’s gets it all. Shady as hell.

The grand daughter who drove off a cliff being replaced by a third wife, whom he bailed out of a continued failed business. The third wife who has both the Archdiocese and Ochsner continuously in her ear for donations. She is a nice woman, but she doesn’t have the business acumen to run a multi billion dollar organization. Lauscha, Loomis and the other exec staff that have been attached to the Benson tit for 15 years will continue to ride that gravy train until it dries up.

I think it’s safe to say Rita had bad business acumen as well. She probably would have moved the team or sold by now. Gayle is not a business woman by any means but like you said there is leadership in place to run the team. Benson was sound in mind when when he made the decision not senile like mentioned earlier.

Also, isn’t Rita adopted.

I think you maybe on to something and are smarter than me.
I see now that all she had to do was drive Rita into cocaine, booze, women, men, non men and her not wanting to be involved in learning the ropes and bam...Gayle got it all!

The power of the Church quickly rallied around Tom in opposition to Rita.

I’m sure it didn’t help that every Sunday Rita was always late to the church service held at the Superdome

Based on what? Are you under the impression super rich people are saints, no pun intended?

The woman who loves New Orleans, born in fricking Houma down the bayou, and wanted nothing more in life than to run the New Orleans Saints?

Pretty sure her mom and her mom’s siblings were. Wtf that has to do with anything? Since they were adopted none of these people are his family, but the woman he married in his mid 70’s was ?

Wasn't she the driving force in trying to relocate the team to San Antonio?

I always wondered how much truth was to them wanting to move to San Antonio. Realistically, how much money does the team make from attendance? Was the “threat” a strategy to get people to show up to the games since the games stands that year appeared empty. Or, was there some actual validity and he wanted to get out of NOLA

One of those things the average fan may never know

The threat to move was very fricking real. Staff were given a living allowance and directed to find permanent housing. Tags stopped that shite with a quickness.
