Only the pumpers here and Saints Report rank it above the worst.

Nah, the only ones that don't think they are last are the ones that put the NYJ last because of the meddling owner. You know, the guy that vetoed a trade because of a Madden rating

While I don't agree with them being above the NYJ, I definitely see the argument

It very likely is. It’s near the worst organizationally speaking with one or two other contenders but also has by far the worst cap situation and no real elite young players.

One could argue we desperately need a meddling owner to fire a shitload of people given the state of her 2 franchises.

Of course we're last. This is the worst situation I can recall the saints ever being in. Being way over the cap with an aging roster and a tyrannical GM isn't going to do us any favors

Jets are probably a worse situation but I think they have a better roster.

Nice trio of receivers and one of the better running backs in the league.

Sauce Gardner and Williams were considered some of the best at their positions on defense.

I think we are last b/c our cap situation is so dire. The right gm can turn around a team quickly with a good draft and a few good free agent signings.

We have to do the opposite, cut productive players to get under the cap with no money to spend.

I think we are above the Raiders but I don't know who else I would put us ahead of.

Defense is old, and the younger guys are inconsistent or have glaring weaknesses.

Offensively our skill positions are below average across the board. Carr is squarely average. The line in theory has two solid bookends and a good center, but the guards are not good.

On top of that we are as deep as a kiddie pool.

This is why I think its ridiculous for the saints and the fans to have any thoughts that the next HC is the coach of the future. The next HC should be seen as a placeholder to get the team finances right and ready for the HC of the future.

When you are the bottom in destinations for a HC, you are going to get the bottom of the available candidates and thus you are already further behind in the future success of the team. This is the opportunity to take a flyer on a HC and if it works out great, if not then the org should be in the top position for the best HC candidate the next go around.

Any fan that is under the belief that the next HC is going to have a 2006 Payton turnaround is in for a massive let down.

Did you expect something different?

Last in cap space
No legit QB or WR’s
Pathetic owner and GM
Aging Superdome

Shall I go on?

Gayle Benson or Woody Johnson?
Gayle Benson or Mark Davis?
Gayle Benson or the McCaskeys?
Gayle Benson or Shad Khan?

Of the current openings, the only successful owner is Kraft in NE. The other 4 are complete jokes. No one who has followed the NFL for any length of time would trade Benson for any of those other 4 owners.

I can’t argue with you. None of them are ideal what so ever. Probably the reason why these teams are failing as a whole amongst other reasons.

On the GM side, in over 20 years of being in charge, Loomis has hired 2 head coaches. 1 was a success. 1 was a fail. I shall not list the number of knuckleheads those other GMs of those 4 badly owned teams have hired in the same amount of time.

If you're a prospective head coach, do you want to work for the GM who pulls the trigger soonest, or the one who tries to keep the old coach, even when it's the wrong decision. "I'll fight to keep you even if you deserve to be fired." If I'm looking for a HC job, I like that.

I have no issues with Loomis personnel decisions in office or on field. I have no issues with Loomis managing the cap while they had a window open to win.

I do think Loomis completely failed at his job for not getting the cap completely under control over the last 5-7 years. There is no excuse for pushing any dead money contracts out for any player over the last 5-7 years. Its easy to manage and spend when times are good, anyone can do that. In times of distress is where a good GM shines and this is where Loomis has shown failure.

Payton & Brees were the only reason he wasn’t exposed earlier. He’s run two franchises into the ground. He is objectively bad. Gayle Benson is objectively bad. Just because woody Johnson exists does not make Gayle benson any more appetizing.
