I doubt well cut Banjo. That guy played his heart out as a Gunner on ST. Plus his name is awesome

I think signing Butler is less importance than it was last year. With Lattimore and the emergence of Crawley, PJ, and the possible return of Breaux, no need to spend big on Butler when the draft should give us what we need there. Landry would be great, but will also want big money. I am curious to see what happens with Snead. That will determine a lot.

Honestly, elite teams have 3 good corners and I can see them going for Butler still.

This is a possible chance for us to re-create the 2014 Broncos free agency

Manny Sanders, Aqib Talib, TJ Ward, and Demarcus Ware

4 key contributors, all relatively big signings

You think we go for Butler? He's a season older.. plus I'm weary of getting another CB from the pats. I'd rather draft one. We have proved how well we can develop rookie corners

I don't think you give him that contract from last season ($ or length), but he is still a very good cornerback. There's a level of balance between available and talent in free agency and the draft.

Not sure how I would feel about a qb in the first with no second round pick. Not sure if Mayfield even makes it too us either

Justin Hardee (555k) basically took his job as the best gunner on ST. 1.8 mil is a lot of money for a guy that just plays ST & cutting him only costs 100k in dead money (basically nothing). Banjo basically makes the same salary as Craig Robertson & just 1.0 mil less than Te'o.

We're going to be bringing in a bunch of young vets & rookies during the preseason. I'm not saying that Banjo will 100% be cut, but I wouldn't be surprised if the coaches found a guy that's just as good on ST that makes league minimum.

Saints had a formal interview with South Dakota State TE Dallas Goedert at the Senior Bowl today. Would love to get a guy like this

Teams are going to fall in love with him and for good reason. But I think if we want a guy that will come in right away and be an impact then he's not it. He's going to have a learning curve at blocking and the speed for the game. Our TEs need to be just as good at blocking as receiving, which is why Hill played more than Fleener. Fleener couldn't block

A guy that is just as good of a receiver and a better blocker is Troy Fumagali. That's the guy, if we take a TE in the draft, we need to take.

yeah F that. we need a dominant DE and OLB this draft or FA. plus we have no 2nd round pick. we have to knock it out the park again in defense in this draft if we want a top 5 defense next year. unless baker can play LB!

I think we go LB either in FA or the draft for sure.

Hell we tried to get Navarro Bowman in the middle of the season. Our FO knows we need help at LB. I can see us signing a guy like Zach Brown or (my favorite option) getting a guy like Edmunds or Evans

And navarro balled out. Wish he wanted to come here.
Remember when he came out couldn't believe he fell to the third round was screaming for us to draft him.
I feel like we should try and sign brate depending on his price.
He would be perfect

Ridiculously unpopular opinion coming but it would yield us the 2nd round pick we gave up for Kamara.

Would trading Ingram to the highest bidder and drafting/signing a similar style back be a good option?

I truly believe Kamara is going to be Leveon Bell for us and therefore Ingrams PT will decline. Why keep paying him 6mil when we can get a replacement for 1-2?
Look st the 2nd half vs MINN. Kamara was in 75% of the plays. Someone said he doesn’t show the same vision as MI but I think that comes with time. His explosive ability will allow him to patiently wait on the hole like Bell. And like Bell, he will be in every down.

If we’re gonna go all in for Drew getting our 2nd back and maybe a 4/5 for Ingram would help.

Well it wasn’t two hours after my previous post that the new coach of the New York Giants called out Odell Beckham for his antics.

This next season is his last year at 8.5 million. Likelihood of them excepting an Ingram plus late round pick for Beckham’s rights this final year?

No and the truth is, no team is going to give you a 2nd for a 28 year old RB. Ajayi was a cheaper and younger option and still only net a 4th rounder. Obviously he isn't as good as Ingram, but the point remains the value of RBs aren't much even if they can produce.

Well, Ingram's average salary is only 4m. So you're risking losing an efficient 1000/400 player to save 2m. I would rather just cut Banjo.

He was in most of the snaps because we abandoned the run. He can be patient like Bell all he wants, but the truth is Bell has arguably the best vision in football. Kamara isn't close to Bell in vision and he isn't up to par with Ingram either, but yeah it does take time. There were 2 runs vs Minnesota where I thought Ingram should have been called on instead. One was a simple cutback which could have gained a decent chunk of yards but kamara didn't see the gap open and ran left for a 1 yard gain. Second one was obviously that 3rd and 1.

You'd get maybe a 3rd round for Ingram

And even so, Ingram is a proven commodity and relatively cheap who fits perfectly as a 1-2 punch with Kamara. Why ruin that to get a draft pick?

Yep. We might not even be able to get that much. Probably a 4th at best. He's 28 year old RB with 1 year left on his contract. He'll be a UFA after the 2018 season. Can't see a team giving up a lot for that.

Personally, I'd rather just let him play out his contract. He's still in his prime & his contract in pretty cheap considering his production.

I think the real question is whether or not we re-sign him in 2019. I assume we will if his play doesn't fall off & he doesn't ask for a ton of money. Shouldn't be too much money though, b/c 29 year old RB's usually don't have much leverage.

re: 2018 Saints Off-season Roster Mega Thread
Here are some important dates leading up to the draft. February will be pretty damn boring, but things should really pick up around here in March.

January 1 - Clubs may begin signing free agent players for the 2018 season. I assume this refers to players that weren't on a team in 2017. WR Josh Huff & LB Jayrone Elliott fall under this category.

February 5 - Waiver system begins for 2018.

February 13 - Beginning at 12 noon, New York time, NFL clubs may begin to sign players whose 2017 CFL contracts have expired. Players under contract to a CFL club for the 2018 season or who have an option for the 2018 season are not eligible to be signed.

February 27 thru March 5 - NFL Scouting Combine, Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana.

March 6 - Prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, deadline for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

March 14 - Prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, clubs must submit qualifying offers to their Restricted Free Agents with expiring contracts to retain a Right of First Refusal/Compensation.

March 14 - Top 51 begins. All clubs must be under the 2018 salary cap prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time.

March 14 - All 2017 player contracts will expire at 4:00 p.m., New York time.

March 14 - The 2018 league year and free agency period begin at 4:00 p.m., New York time.

March 14 - Trading period for 2018 begins at 4:00 p.m., New York time, after expiration of all 2017 contracts.

April 20 - Deadline for Restricted Free Agents to sign offer sheets. We'll know where we stand with Breaux, Coleman, & Snead going into the draft.

April 26 thru 28 - 2018 NFL Draft, AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is the chance that Strief retires. Would that eliminate his dead money?

Hey 50, I live up the road and was hoping to check this out too. I haven’t been able to find any ticket info, in fact all I saw was a “free for fans” blurb, which seems very unlike Jerry Jones. Do you have any info on tickets or how to get in?
