Yes, because everyone else was taking this dogshit franchise to great heights before him

I'm not saying the guy is a HOFer, but he did take two turd franchises, the Saints and the Indianapolis (not Baltimore) Colts to their best records in franchise history within two years of his arrival. He was a good coach.

It also sucks that because of the society we live in today very few coaches have any personality out of fear of hurting someone's feelings....players, fans, media, etc.

No, I’d rather not. Loss on Sunday reminded me of a Jim More game of not playing to win but playing not to lose.

Another funny clip that’s not included in the link is the time when Mora called in to a local sports show and lit into Buford Jordan (a former player under Mora) and the host because they were being critical of the Saints.

Crazy to think that at the time an active NFL head coach called into a local show to go on a tirade. I feel that would never happen today because of social media and the coaches make too money today for that to even be considered remotely worth it.

Ya gotta love Mora!

There is no sugarcoating anything with Jim Mora.
He tells it like it is, The cold, brutal truth that the majority of people can't handle.

absolutely. also won 2 USFL titles with philadelphia stars and baltimore stars. was a very good defensive coach. see dome patrol.

his flaw was he was way too conservative on offense with carl smith.

I remember that vividly. Why did he never make a change at OC? Was Carl his lifelong buddy? The play calling was obvious. My dad (who was a novice on X and O’s) often called the play they were doing and who it was going to when they lined up at the LOS. I also remembered for a long time that we were the king of screen passes and completing a five yard pass on 3rd and 15. Meanwhile the 49ers along with the elite teams were airing it out with big gains and long touchdown bombs. “Why can’t we do that???” was a famous line in our household.

Last season at one point he defended Dennis Allen.

I think he said something along the lines of "okay so he's not Vince Lombardi but you can win with him"

Again, something like that. I just know Vince Lombardi was in the quote.

Mora is definitely an old school guy.

14 minutes does not do the man justice. I forgot about that confrontation with Ron Swoboda. The only reason he let Swoboda argue with him like that was because Svoboda had been a professional athlete and he and Svoboda actually got along very well most days
