The order is less important than just putting together a collective top 10.

I'll assemble this:

1. Derek Carr (put here just bc of his leadership issues and importance of the position)
2. Cam Jordan- Important vet that's fallen off a sharp cliff after an extension
3. Juwan Johnson- TE1 that has had a terrible year
4. Jamaal Williams- Vet RB pickup that was supposed to shoulder a load for kamara has avg'd less than 3 ypc and i have to hear about a bunch of cartoon shite.
5. Payton Turner- Availability is zero
6. Trevor Penning- Awful turn of events for his development
7. Pete Werner- May be critical but he's not had a good year and is a huge reason why our D is a pushover half the time
8. Chris Olave- Too many lows this year for a guy we thought was a huge character leader and sure handed route and hands guy
9. Isaiah Foskey- We're getting nothing from this dude
10. Hedley and Grupe can each share a spot collectively

I give Cam a slight pass. An aging player can't take on the amount of work our offense is forcing this defense to do.

This is based on shitty QB play all year.

Only player I'd leave off is Olave, I lay that at the feet of Carr. Replace him with Ramczyk.

Hard to call Payton Turner a disappointment since he didn't merit any expectations to begin with. I'd also move Penning higher, probably to that No. 2 spot.

that's part of the equation for sure but there have been real issues with Olave. He seemed to have lack of effort issues at early times. Had the off the field issue. Him and Carr really have nobody to blame but themselves for their own lack of rhythm and chemistry issues. Olave had huge expectations coming into year.

I'd throw Ram in there too. Age is definitely starting to rear it's ugly head with him this season.

Olave’s play at times is probably the only reason we have 5 wins. Outside of Kamara, he’s legit the best offensive threat we have. The guy makes circus catches just to save our shitty qb.

Seemed like Carr was bonding more with MT during the offseason. Didn't hear much about him working with Olave.

I wouldn't put olave on this list. I think his frustration got the better of him a few times, but he's a pro bowl level WR.

Rest of the list is pretty accurate.

On the flipside, who is actually exceeded expectations?

Adebo
Peat
Shaheed
Granderson

Pretty shitty and shows what a bad job the staff has done.

Adebo and Granderson seem like guys you build on if and when this team gets torn up and rebuilt. They’ve become foundation pieces moving forward.

I'd give Lattimore a shoutout. He quietly had a great offseason and played some of his best ball this year.

this ^^^^^

he has been noticeably limping as well, he has nagging injuries and he is getting old.

he gave us a good run but its time he was let go. this FO will most likely give him a fully guaranteed big contract for the next 5 years and then we cant cut him because he is just a bench warmer after

Agree with the list. Pretty much why we are in the position we are in.

I think Penning is the lynchpin of disappointment on the offense. Holy shite, this guy completely sucks. How do you go from penciled-in LT to being completely phased out of the game. He cratered our offense with his terrible play, which contributed to Carr getting hurt and never getting comfortable. Having to constantly help out on his side led to our already lackluster offense looking even worse.

Penning is the poster child of everything wrong with the Saints in 2023

now that you say it like that, it was probably carr that whiny bagged his way into getting penning benched.

I'll drop this in here.

32 NFL Teams.

Hedley has managed to rank 35th in NFL average so far this year. 29th in net to his credit (probowl whispers in the air)

Wouldn't the fact that he's a ProBowl level WR and has had some of those frustrating moments be the reason to have him on here?

Disappointing:
Derek Carr--Horrible
Trevor Penning--Basically a rookie, but WTF he played bad. I still don't understand how he got slighlty better each of the 1st 3 games then absolutely fell off
Juwan Johnson--WTF
Ryan Ramzyk--Age? Injuries? Both?
Pete Werner--Not that he's played horrible, just was hoping for him to take the next step
Erick McCoy--Not that he's played horrible, but I'm not sure how much the Guard play on either side has affected his performance
Khalen Saunders--Never did put up much stats in KC, but I thought he either could've taken the next step or at least be seen influencing more plays

They are who we knew they were:
Cam Jordan--Good, but some decline. Father time is undefeated
Demario Davis--Good, but some decline. Father time again
Tyrann Mathieu--Good, but some decline. Father time again
Marcus Maye--Not too much to say here
Alontae Taylor--Still young, high energy, takes chances and wins some & loses some
Nathan Shepherd--Serviceable, but was surprised he got as much $ as he did
Payton Turner--Cannot stay healthy, but looked good when active
Tanoh Kpassgnon--Just another guy, rotational & serviceable
Chris Olave--Good route runner perhaps better than I thought, but still needs to work on effort & attitude along with making more contested catches
Caesar Ruiz--Just another guy, but hoped he would step up
James Hurst--Serviceable as he's always been
Foster Moreau--Just another guy as he's always been

Performed better than expected:
Paulson Adebo--Playing well
Carl Granderson--Playing well, our only edge pass rusher
Bryan Bresee--Very effective pass rusher already, would be great if he can improve on run D to be an every down force
Marshon Lattimore--Playing good before injury
Issaic Yiadom--Pretty good in spot duty, better than just another guy I thought he'd be
Jordan Howden--People are shitting on him a bit for a late round pick rookie I think he's doing okay. Similar to Alontae Taylor, high energy & effort guy, wins & loses some, just needs more consistency
Rasheed Shaheed--Needs to be more involved
Michael Thomas--Still crisp route runner, physical, and can make great contested soft hand catches on fast balls without having to trap against his body
Andrus Peat at LT--(WTF right?)

Kamara, Jamal Williams, & Taysom Hill are in a class of their own. Kamara & Hill still show us very good plays we're accustomed to, but Kamara especially I feel like is held back by Carmichael's offense. Williams has been a let down but also is held back because we cannot run block to save our life
