Do you understand how air travel works? They likely had a slot for takeoff. Him showing up 10 minutes late could cause much longer delays as they wait for a new slot. There is a plane full of people waiting because of one selfish a-hole. If I have a meeting with 10 consultants charging me $300/hr, some a-hole showing up 10 minutes late costs me $500 of lost productivity. Now do 70 people, with a good fraction making multi-million $ salaries.
It's bullshite and you should be ashamed of yourself for defending it, even in the slightest.
