Kushner finds the silence deafening:

quote:

Zion Williamson, the most anticipated performer in the NBA re-start, left the bubble four days ago.

And there’s been zero reporting follow up beyond the Pelicans’ two-paragraph press release on Thursday.

The total silence from NBA media on a story like this is bizarre.

It doesn’t suggest anything nefarious, but considering star power & timelines involved, the total lack of follow-up from intensely competitive reporters is an odd, almost unprecedented silence.

A family deserves space, but it’s rare for such famous athletes to actually get it.

It is strange considering Zion is such a high profile person that someone thought it was a worthwhile investment to pay that bitch Carol Baskin to wish him a happy birthday. If someone is deathly ill in a public place like the hospital, how has a TMZ kind of outlet not broken a Zion story for the clicks?

Wondering and speculating is one thing. Demanding daily updates is another.

Are people showing up at the facility with guns and knives and dragging Griffin out of his office forcing information out of him? Demanding? lol. What does that even mean in this context?

It wasn't intended to be a commentary from me on the situation, simply what I perceived as Kushner's thoughts.

I think everyone is going a good job of honoring his family's wishes to keep this quiet. We have no mandate to know anything.

When they want to comment on it, they will release something to the media.

Me too. We aren't in the "redzone" yet in terms of him missing actual games, but its getting close.

The fact that it has been 4 days and we have heard nothing tells me the situation is not good at all and is ongoing.

Kush:

quote:

Again...this is not a critique against anyone’s job performance, and obviously Zion’s privacy should be respected.

It’s just historically unique of the league’s media, considering the circumstances.

I suppose it speaks to the moment.

He's right.

But also, complaining about the job "nba media" isn't doing when he's literally..."nba media," is something.

Its like listening to a mechanic bitch about nobody being around to change the oil in his car.

The silence makes me wanna think they do not know if he will play game 1. If that is true, that is fine. What I fear is they know he will not play but do not want to say anything because they know it will cause a melt down with the fan base

I don't find him to be complaining.

More commenting on how crazy it is that there is so much silence around a very very high profile guy.

He’s not complaining. He’s making the same point I made earlier in the thread which is that it’s incredible in this age of leaked information not a single thing has been put out there. Again I guarantee you someone like Shams knows and is not being allowed to say it.

Does the media have that much respect for Zion and his family or is the situation that serious?

He nor anyone else in the Nola market has connects. anyway.

I think it’s pretty easy to just assume someone in his family is sick, right? If there was any meat to the story I’m sure it would be getting pursued

Kushner has had information in the past, definitely more so than most local types, but nothing on the level of say, Underhill with the Saints.

It is what it is. We just have to sit back and let his family do their thing and honor their privacy.
