Pretty sure it’s that you can’t TRADE for two guys on those types of contracts.

You can draft one and trade for one but you can’t trade for both.

We aren't trading for KD

As far Zion's deal, I just want to know if the deal is 4 with a PO or 5 straight years without an option

Doing the 5 year is interesting. I just saw that you can't have two 5 year rookie extension guys on the same team (Simmons and Bam on the Nets). So if things went sour down the road that would limit who other teams could offer us.

It's not interesting at all, it was always going to be a 5 year.

Is that what Shams said? Or was that your prediction?

In the end, not that "challenging" after all.

IMO, this is why we didn't see Griff after the draft. He had Trajan run the draft, while he focused on the most important part of our offseason.

Correct.

Also - good chance KD isn't traded. There's a history of stars asking to be dealt and demanding it and it not happening.

Recent history says different but the Kobe demands were never met...he ended up staying with the Lakers.

MJ the same....

He's under contract for 4 more years.

This is what bothers me with him and the league in general. These players have too much power currently with these demands. I honestly hope nothing happens at this point. Just a bad look to have 4 years left after signing with Brooklyn and already demanding a trade. Just sad.

Seeing how he is acting lately with being in the community and how much weight he has lost. Lfgggg

It’s easy to make some small sacrifices when you’re trying to get 230 million dollars…the question will be keeping him motivated to earn it over the life of the contract. I’m curious what the protections are. Hopefully a clause about him staying in shape.

Seeing how much he got abused for gaining weight, I doubt he wants to be the laughing stock again. We saw what he could do when he was healthy. That is also with Adams clogging the paint and playing for two coaches who aren’t as good as Willie. Plus he is a competitor and sitting on the bench during playoffs definitely has to sting.

However, Pelicans having to sacrifice the fifth year as a player option for those health clauses are worth it.

I would have preferred the No PO to the injury protections. Injury protections actually don’t do us a whole lot of good.

I think the injury protections are more for Ms. Benson's checkbook than our cap.
