Exactly. Comparing this to Zion makes zero sense.

They're going to try to gaslight people into believing Luka is white Zion and not a guy we know is kinda doughy but is also a multi time 1st team all-NBA player, who also gets it in done in the postseason.
Luka is up for a supermax, I just think Mavs didn't want to pay. Its a good trade for both teams in my opinion. AD puts Dallas as a favorite coming out the West, and LA bids adieu to the LeDrama era and build around Luka.

Couple of guys on the Pels TL saying BI Herb picks for Book.
I say bullshite but if Luka can be gotten for fricking AD we HAVE A SHOT

Then fire everyone in your braindead organization then sell the team. You don't deserve a team if you don't want to pay a 25 yr old top 3 player in the league.

not really and even then it would put them in the same spot that the much younger better player they just traded put them in last season.

Kyrie, Klay, PJ, AD, Lively with Gafford, Hardy (not Ivy), Dinwiddie, Naji, and Christie as reserves is pretty formidable.

That GM is going to surpass Griff/Loomis as the most hated in pro sports and it won’t be even close.

Supposedly mavs moved on from Luka because of conditioning concerns.....Griffin sitting here staring into space on year 5 with our star having major conditioning concerns

This feels like if Patrick Mahomes was traded for Jared Goff

Luka is clearly better than Zion, but we were worried about giving Zion the baby max. That's why Griff put in the weight clauses.
Imagine facing a 5/345M super max with the 2nd apron being such a thing

Cause Zion gets actually fat and misses half seasons because of it. One was in the finals and one couldn't make it through two play in games.

You win titles with top guys like Luka. You go cheap with the other parts not at the top.

If you can't pay a guy who averages over 30ppg, has been 5x FIRST team all NBA, and led your team to a Finals in his first six seasons then you just won't ever pay a super max and you probably shouldn't be a GM or owner.

One has to wonder if Denver maybe having the same thoughts

The difference is a out of shape Luka or Joker are still generational players out of shape Zion is the biggest waste of potential in sports history
Posted on 2/2/25 at 3:31 pm to Jar_Jar_80
Yeah, they developed elite skills, while Zion is dependent on elite athleticism. Guess which suffers worse when you get fat.
Posted on 2/2/25 at 3:47 pm to Pistol44
No. Just no. Dallas will not be the favorite out of the west. All their stars out now over 30. Dallas just gave up a generational talent at 25 for an oft injured 30 yr old. They lost this trade. Forget favorites out of the west

Joker is constantly out of shape though and it will get worse as he ages.
The good thing with Zion is the contract he is on is basically a year to year team option. That in itself is SUPER valuable in this new CBA era, and likely why we’re not even discussing trading him.

You missed the part about the second apron. It's not about the payout itself.
With the 2nd apron, you cannot make any mistakes with these super max deals now.
Washington is so happy the league found this after AFTER they were able to deal Beal. Boston is already regretting giving Brown his supermax.
