The Warriors are an easy one to say for their stars, but they got minutes from guys like Ezeli and Looney, and hit the jackpot with Draymond in the 2nd round.

The Spurs got minutes from Murray, Anderson, Forbes, Corey Joseph
Raptors have gotten minutes from Poetl, Powell, and Wright.
Washington has Kelly Oubre
Celtics have Rozier and Semi
OKC had Payne and has Abrines

Woudln't it be nice to have a backup big play 15 minutes a game, and he make $1.3m/yr? or have a backup PG come in the game and play with some passion and not be terrible for 12 minutes a game, making $1.5M/yr?

Draymond was big10 player of the year.
He had a knee injury.
It was not until year 2 that he shined.
They took a chance with a 2 that he would heal. I saw him in college.
Smooth and heady.
Knew the game.
Burly tatum.

do not understand trading away any draft picks. They are by far the greatest bargain in the league. Plus there is always the possibility of finding gem or a late bloomer. This team should have 6-8 guys on rookie deals. It only has 2 and neither are contibutors. We should be looking at ways to add cheap young talent, not pick up overvalued vets..

Paul George is an overvalued vet?

Is this serious?

I love how outraged you must be. Yes, he is, in whatever sense you mean. But why not go ahead and trade away a few draft picks and players for him. You're right, with the guys we have and him, we'll win the title for sure. Trade it all away, nothing matters but this season..

Again, there is no chance of this happening. But my goodness, if you have a chance to get Paul George to pair with AD and Boogie you do it every single time. Paul George is in his prime, Boogie is in his prime, and AD is about to hit his prime. It's funny but I really can't think of a single time I agreed with your point of view. It fascinates me that we can watch the same games, be presented with the same information, and never agree on anything.

Sure I’d do that but I don’t see why they would

If you get the chance, you MUST. Even if he is gone. So what - you dump some salaries and have changed your culture and the way you are viewed around the league in all likelihood.

They could get to the 2nd round, and even the WCF if things break right. Then, you dare him to leave to go play with an aging Lebron with 50,000 miles on his tires and that scrub Lonzo. Meanwhile, Pels get to tell AD and Boogie they will always be all in on winning

All of this is why you make the trade.

I think that's really underselling the impact George could have.

Holiday
Hill
George
AD
DC

I'm not sure if Golden State has ever seen anything close to that defending them. But with Holiday going off the rails on offense and Hill being Hill, AD/DC might have to score 45 each to win.

This would never happen, but that would be the strongest five man lineup in the league unless Rondo over Hill is better. Davis and Cousins are easily the two best big men in the league.

There's also the Jrue makes too much money problem. If AD signs his extension and George gets a max then 2 years from now you're looking at AD making about $36 , Cousins and George making about $32 and Holiday making $26. That's $126 million so you're probably over the tax already with just those 4 players. You'd need to dump Hill and fill out the roster with a bunch of minimum and near minimum players. This definitely seems like a pipe dream scenario on so many levels.

You abosolutely do this if you get the chance and figure everything else out later. George probably leaves, but coming from playing with Russ, he may love it here and no matter what he says, once you get him in the building there is a chance.

You would have to dump Hill + some in the offseason (or include Jrue in the trade) to make the money work out, but the opportunity to put an allstar wing with our bigs would be unreal even if just for 1/2 season.

OKC lost to the Nuggets last night and stand at 4-7. Holding out for this pipe dream could actually screw the Pels. They need to add a 3rd big but if they are thinking they have a shot a PG-13 then each loss by OKC makes the Pels feel the pipe dream is attainable and delay more realistic plans. Hopefully Miller can push Dante into more backup big minutes and get AD/DC some rest.

if they trade for George and he bolts i'm not sure how culture/perception has been changed.

George would have left Davis and Cousins to play somewhere else. the Pels would still be capped out with scant options to snare another name player.

isn't that the same message they were sending with re-signing Holiday, which you pilloried a few days ago? if Holiday continues to be awful, you're right that the message doesnt matter. likewise, why would that message matter if George bolts?

At this point I'd settle for a competent back-up big so AD and Boogie aren't playing a million minutes.
